Porto doesn't count? (you meant never right?) What about Inter?
Also I think Inter were in decline, but maybe that's just me.

So what your trying to say that when he was at the chelsea, hes achievements do not count?..The Franchise wrote:Nah.

Sir Alex has.
Seriously wake the *bleep* up, the competition was very strong back then.

Re: If Mou wins CL and Liga this season.....
Not really. I love Porto and I love Portuguese football, but winning the league twice in a row or bringing a team up from stratch in that league isnt worth much praise.
Inter were on decline and its a mess he made and then ran out on. He won them the CL and the league, a superb achievement for anyone (even more so them seeing as they gone so long without winning) and he gets 10 out of 10 for that.
But he left right after it, which is fine, but guys like Sir Alex kept on with the declining old team, got new players in, brought in young players from the acadamy and won all over again. He has done that 3 times, Mou hasnt done that once.
Its not a knock on Mou, its his career and he can do what he wants with it. But people cant ignore what Sir Alex has done, its not done often at all.

Yep. Sir Alex´s worst team ever with Tim Howard in goal, Louis Saha up front, Kleberson and Fortune in midfield, Phil Neville and Silvestre at the back and Van Nisterooy playing 16 games....great compeititon.
Maybe you should get over your Mou love for a minute.
The only challange he got was Arsenal.

Re: If Mou wins CL and Liga this season.....
Mou fan boys need to get their head out their backsides and get real here.
I am not saying Mou isnt great, im not stupid, he obviously he one of the best to ever do it.
But he has flaws as a coach, just like all of them do and contrary to popular belief, winning in Spain doesnt mean he has done everything there is to do as a coach..he hasnt.
Great coach, but people need to respect guys like Sir Alex, like Sacchi and I could go on.

Re: If Mou wins CL and Liga this season.....
Fair enough. I'm not saying Mou > Ferguson anyway, they're totally different. I don't think any of the two deserves less praise for his choices. Keeping your team on a top level for multiple years or coaching a team in a competition you've never been on and winning fast are different sort of achievements. I'm not gonna say one is harder than the other, but both do their jobs extremely well, that's for sure.

Re: If Mou wins CL and Liga this season.....
I wouldnt go so far as to say that. But if Mou stays a while at Real Madrid and focuses on building and developing our team, which I personally feel can become the best in all history even, then at one point goes on to some NT achievements, hell maybe even a 4th CL with Man U , he will be up there for sure.

United were in a transitional period, Arsenal were slowing down fast and Liverpool were adopting to Benitez.
Not really any challenge but did a brilliant job at Chelsea. But he's no SAF, Lippi, Sacchi etc etc.

Meh, it all comes down how you define a challenge. Anyway I understand Mou not being as good as Saf, or Lippi but being inferior to Sacchi, is bs.izzy26 wrote:The xcx wrote:In course of 3 years Arsenal wasnt the only challenge rofl.

I think you will find they was, and barely one.
In the 2 years Mou won, Man Utd were in deep decline and went through the process of transition.
Arsenal had Bergkamp on the way out, Overmars already done and Captain Veira showing decline.
Pool were strong, they did better in CL knockout games were Rafa could defend for 0-0 and score away draws and win his homes games. But in the league, where you needed to break through the lesser sides they lacked the creativity and attacking prowess to win the league.
Why you in love with Mou? Because you are so quick to defend him and defend him so aggressively when the point I was making I think is quite reasonable.

"Mourinho is a defensive coach who want his team to play ugly and just get results."
"he is not fit for Madrid."
"they will kick him out at first season if he can't beat Barca."
"Madrid fans be ready for 1-0 boring wins"
etc etc.....
I just can laugh. Outscoring the mighty Barca for two years, scoring loads of goals both in CL and Liga, playing some sexy football and many more....
sure he is underrated. and he is up there with likes of SAF already if not better.

I rate SAF and Mou equally.
SAF for what he has achieved with United and the longerity.
Mou for his success in 3 different countries, soon to be 4. Copa Del Rey is still a trophy so you could say 4 already lol.

He didn't spend much at Porto 20 M in 2 seasons, or something like that.

Re: If Mou wins CL and Liga this season.....
Who really rated Deco, Manish etc before Jose? Who really thought they would win the Champions League in 2004?
Who really rated Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Essien etc before Jose? Who really thought they would dominate the PL the way they did getting Chelsea their first ever major silverware?
Who really rated, Sneijder, Lucio, Milito before Jose? Who really thought Jose could win the Champions League with Inetr? Especially after they drew Barca in the semi's?
Money was spent but it was on players no body wanted or even players nobody could get the best out of. It was also with teams that were traditionally never considered favourite for top honours be it domestically or in Europe.
He is a master tactician, master manipulator and damn it he's the most colourful personality to grace football in years. Whether he is better than some of the other legendary managers is up for debate but he is surely up there IMO.

Re: If Mou wins CL and Liga this season.....
I didn't say SAF didn't spend money, but he has done so at a much more controlled pace over a period of 25 years. He has obviously spent when needed, but he didn't buy an entire squad of superstars in 2 years.
Either way that's not to say Mou is not a genius, he obviously is. I'm just saying that things become easier with a blank cheque.
