Amantino Mancini going to jail

Amantino Mancini has been sentenced to two years and eight months in jail after being found guilty of sexual assault by an Italian court, according to ANSA.

The Atletico Mineiro winger carried out the assault on the young Brazilian woman at his apartment in Milan on the night of December 8 of last year.

Mancini’s friend Gerardo Eugenio do Nascimento was sentenced to 10 months in prison for trying to coerce the victim into not reporting the assault to police.

Mancini, who maintained his innocence throughout the trial and insisted that the sexual intercourse had been consensual, had met the woman at a party hosted by his compatriot and then AC Milan team-mate Ronaldinho.

The 31-year-old Mancini enjoyed a successful five-year spell at Roma before joining Inter in 2008. However, he failed to reproduce his best form for the Nerazzurri and was loaned out to city rivals AC Milan last year before eventually returning to Brazil to rejoin Mineiro in January.

Well then...rape is the worst crime IMO. Deserves longer than 2 years.

Agreed. You can never say for certainty with these kinds of things but rape deserve maximum punishment.

it's very unfortunate that in such cases the female is automatically considered a victim and her claims a taken as "truth!" while males are hastly accused of being guilty and rapists, i don't like mancini and have nothing against women but what the hell was that girl doing at his apartment??, drinking tea or playing Wii games???, yeah right......

It's not rape, otherwise the punishment would have been a lot worse. Sexual assault involves can involve anything which was non-consensual.

The vast majority of sexual assaults and rapes go unreported, often because of the disgusting culture that surrounds the claim, as evidenced by the response in the general section and here. Take a long look in the mirror.

He's been convicted in a court of law of a criminal offence, not a civil offence, which means reasonable doubt has to be satisfied.

I guess a rape can be proved by medical examinations.Being a public people,its also easy to be victim of a blackmail.
