why would they keep a player that wants to go to another club, he will just play unhappy and everyone saw how that fared out with maicon

Coentrao's continuous comments about wanting to join Madrid have landed him in trouble with his club, with the Eagles also looking into making a complaint against the Spaniards

Which is how they encourage other clubs to join the bidding war, and possibly offer more than what Real Madrid have put on the table (to Benfica's hopes ofcourse).

Benfica are now weighing up the possibility of launching a formal complaint against Real Madrid for the "improper and unauthorised harassment of Fabio Coentrao,". In other words, for tapping up.

Mourinho and Coentrao has the same agent (Jorge Mendes) so we can't really know what is happening behind the curtain. Perez and rest of the Real Madrid organization has (probably) nothing to do with this whole thing.

AS reporting that we are to announce the signing of Coentrao after Lass' transfer has been resolved. Gago or Garay are rumoured to be part of any confirmed deal.
