Nope. Fair theory, but I just read further confirmation of Jon Snow's origin in Dance with Dragons. No spoiler or anything, but the mystery is Jon Snow's mom. The actual conception itself isn't. Eddard definitely cheated on Cat, and he was always remorseful of it. But it happened. If he went out of his way for a grand scale conspiracy in order to hide the spawn of his sister and Rhaegar..that would just be an unnecessary complication.

For me, the whole concept of Ed going to war..having just wed his dead brothers wife..finding comfort in the arms of another..bang bang boom boom..and out comes Jon Snow. That fits. Also, even Robert Barratheon made several mentions of Snow's mother in the first book, not too sure about the first season. Sure, he could've been clueless as Ned could've chosen to hide facts from him..but Ned's reactions always pointed towards the existence of a booty call that he always regretted.

Also, I stopped watching season 2 at around the 5th episode because it bored the crap outta me. Definitely gna watch it through and through when the season's done. Anyone else SERIOUSLY disappointed by the Melisandre choice ? I mean for fecks sake..that chic was supposed to blow Cersei outta the water when it came to downright sexiness. But they decided to go with a 50 year old, red head, hellen mirren look alike. Seriously weak.

I agree for the most part the series has been largely disappointing this season.....action is spread very thinly across varying story lines.

There's going to be a huge flurry of action towards the end.

Yeh. I expect a lot of action. Every episode something always adds to the build up.

Somehow I'm really digging the buildup. The dialogue, the character interactions and the overall acting are really enjoyable.

ohhhh i have been re watching some episodes from season 1... for the 3 swordsman that jamie lannister spoke of, could loras tyrell be one of them? unless someone already mentioned it.

in the first season when cat was talkin to little finger and the bald dude about the dagger of the guy who tried to kill bran, little finger mentioned that jamie lannister lost to the flower knight in a tournament(or... since i didnt read the book, that tournament had some iffy setup or sth)

Jousting tournament is different than a fighting tournament

I mean, Loras Tyrell also beat the Mountain in a jousting tournament, but as Ned Stark said "he rides well"

I hazard a guess that Loras Tyrell wouldn't have any chance against the mountain in an actual fight

Also @Lizard King...too harsh on Melisandre - shes way better looking than Cersei (and shes 35 not 50)

oh ya, just re watched that part, loras looks pretty small, and mountain was smashing him down easily after he lost, as he was pissed off. makes sense.

Holy shit that was so EPIC. I'm too excited to write in normal paragraphs so here goes (with as little spoilers as possible):

This was by far the show's best hour to date
I forgot we were watching a tv show for an hour. Episodes like this is where the phrase "it's not TV, it's HBO comes from"
Priceless performances by nearly every major actor, they sold it

Did not mind at all that we didn't get to see the other arcs this week, but it probably means that we will not see them next week.
