Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
M99 please look one post on top of you
the Tyrion-Arya-Jon love triangle seems kind of terrible, but now that the 5 year gap never happened seems impossible.
It also seems that Tyrion at this point was not a dwarf so that would make him a ridiculously smart man and heir to Casterly Rock rather than dwarf and self-loathing man.
Have to say that Jaime on the road for redemption >>> Jaime that kills everyone on his way to the throne and then blames it on Tyrion.
While I kinda like the Daenerys that loathed Viserys more than the one that avenged her brother, I do kind of wish that they had gone ahead with that invasion of Westeros thing. At this rate we won't get it until Book 7.
Also confirmed 'Jon's true parentage' will be revealed at the last book, The Winds of Winter. That being said since it was originally a trilogy this could just refer to the last act so not necessarily in the next book.

Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
There's some interesting stuff there which I now wish George kept like Robb fighting Joffrey on the battlefield, Dany taking revenge on Drogo for killing Viserys and a khalasaar proactively chasing her but all this love triagle sounds like really bad fanfiction. What this outline pretty much confirms is that Daenerys will invade Westeros with a Dothraki khalasaar.
The most worrying thing is GRRM still writing the first act out of three, I don't think he will ever finish the story.

Yeah it looks like Tyrion was a Jaime level warrior considering he and Jaime kills Robb and he himself burns Winterfell to the ground. The potentially massive spoilers was the five characters GRRM said will survive the entire saga. And notice there is no mention of Aegon at all.

But THE MOST worrying part was...
if I know exactly where a book is going, I lose all interest in writing it

Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
Ian Glender who plays Kevan Lannister is coming back for season 5 and will appear in E10 which means we'll get the ADWD epilogue or some version of it:
“I thought the crossbow fitting. You shared so much with Lord Tywin, why not that? Your niece will think the Tyrells had you murdered, mayhaps with the connivance of the Imp. The Tyrells will suspect her. Someone somewhere will find a way to blame the Dornishmen. Doubt, division, and mistrust will eat the very ground beneath your boy king, whilst Daenerys raises her banner above Dragonstone and the lords of the realm gather round her.”
“Daenerys?” For a moment he did not understand. Then he remembered. “Meereen. She's in Meereen, she will spend the rest of her life fighting a war which doesn't concern her.”
“No.” The eunuch’s voice seemed deeper. “She is here. Daenerys has not been shaped for rule or trained in arms, as befits a queen to be, but that is not the end of her "education". She doesn't read or write, she has absolutely no knowledge on the history or laws of Westeros. Everything she knows about Westeros comes from the beggar king Viserys. She's in love with a savage rapist, has burned and crucified hundreds and thousands of people alive. Tommen has been taught that kingship is his right. Daenerys on the other hand is far more self-righteous, egoistic than the boy king will ever be. I will support her, even though my previous acts contradicts this but in the end it's all for the children... for the realm.”
*bunch of creepy boys and girls stab him*

GRRM can say his "I want to create a world in which everyone can die" BS all he wants, we always knew all those 5 characters would make it to the last book.M99 wrote:Yeah it looks like Tyrion was a Jaime level warrior considering he and Jaime kills Robb and he himself burns Winterfell to the ground. Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
Despite this, Arya won't survive the series imo. I just don't see how she can have a happy ending/life after what she's been through and I know that surviving doesn't mean happiness.
Many believe this to be foreshadowing Arya's death: "At the end of winter when spring begins to thaw, they will find your dead body frozen with a needle in your hand". She also thinks Ned got it wrong what he said about the "lone wolf" but Ned will be proven right eventually.
I mean people are going crazy about Jon/Arya being end game stuff, but to me it seems like this Arya is a different character. Same with Jaime who is basically Cersei and other characters.

Everyone can die.... apart from the main characters
Can't understand how people actually still believe this when a guy like Tyrion has a plot armor that would make Harry Potter jealous

Still taken from GOT Season 5: A Day in the Life. Mockup of Hardhome.
Jon, Sam, Edd and a giant (Wun Wun probably). So Sam won't go to Oldtown in the show. Oldtown as been completely cut. Also potentially as massive spoiler for season 5 and possibly the books.

- Spoiler:
- A few weeks ago, before the trailer aired and so we had no clue of a battle scene in Hardhome a guy claimed that the the end of the season will be Nights Watch vs Wildlings on Hardhome. The Others will interrupt the battle and people will flee, Lord Commander Jon will order his men to stand their ground and they will tab him in the back (show's version of For The Watch). Last shot of the season will be White Walkers carrying of Jon's body.

Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
- Spoiler:
- If that spoiler is true the whitewashing of protagonists continues
Jon no longer the oath-breaker about to keep breaking his oaths, is now turned into the valiant commander falling in battle.
Interesting turn of events though, if true. I wonder why the walkers would take him rather than kill him as they do with every other adult?
Also seems to support the theory that "never felt the fourth knife, only the cold" means the Others arrived at the wall.

Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
You can't seriously believe that "theory", it almost makes as much sense as the Sansa to replace fArya theory. That "theory" originates from a reddit user who had 1 total post with 0% credibility and was spread for some reason after the video released by HBO.
Hardhome was well known way before that user posted his "theory". Another poster who is actually reliable as he correctly predicted Jon Snow at Craster's Keep in S4 posted about a scene North of the Wall where the Nights King will revive wights or something like that. I posted the link some pages back.
The way I see it, Jon will lead the NW in a mission to save wildlings in Hardhome, same as he planned on ADWD before getting stabbed, only he will actually be able to do it. Something will go wrong and they will fight before WW show up. All this happens in E7-E8 as we saw in the video which means Jon will be back at Castle Black by E10, maybe or maybe not he will receive Ramsay's letter before being stabbed.
I agree about Sam though, it seems he will be there for Jon's stabbing which will be super weird for him. Maybe he goes to Oldtown in S6 when the Citadel becomes more relevant.

Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
So GRRM revealed that the next season will be a slaughterhouse, people who live in the books will die just for fun.. who do we think will be killed off this time?
Think Bronn is a decent shout.. Brienne maybe because what's her point really now that we don't have LSH? Somehow have a bad feeling though it might be Jaime or the one and only true king.

Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
He's probably exaggerating as usual. I doubt Brienne or Jaime are going to die, both have an incomplete arc him if they die this season. Bronn on the other hand can be easily killed, as far as I know he doesn't have a huge role to play in the future but he's a D&D favourite, he might survive.
In my opinion from the characters who are still alive in the books, Grey Worm, Robin Arryn and possibly whoever dies at the Battle of Winterfell (Ramsay/Roose/Yara/Stannis/Walda) are the ones who will die.

Re: [BOOKS] Game of Thrones for the Literate
Completely forgot about Grey Worm. I think someone said before that he seemed to be dead in the trailer..
I agree that Brienne has still a part to play but we don't know what part that is and how much of it is down to LSH. Many people think that without her Brienne seems to be a bit stuck so killing her off might work as an easy way out.
Regarding Jaime I don't really think he's going to die (in season 5), just had this feeling with all the talk of him visiting Dorne and stuff.. well and obviously LSH missing is a bit problematic for him aswell.. not that I expect it but in the books he could die very sonn aswell.
However I don't think he was talking about characters who will die in WoW like those who don't survive the BoW.. to me it sounded like they are killing additional characters who will survive in the books (at least for the moment).

Bronn will get decapitated like Arys Oakheart.
Grey Worm.
A sinking feeling that Barristan will be offed too.
Hizdahr?

Jaime Lannister Himself wrote:"[The show bosses] know as much as George RR Martin knows. He hasn’t written the books, but he knows how he wants it to end. Well, I think he’s written one of them now. I don’t know when it comes out but I’d assume soon. All the details, they’re going to have to come up with them themselves. It’s going to be interesting because I think the show is going to finish before the last book comes out. There’ll be quite a big difference when it does."
I mean honestly it could be possible. I know he probably has no idea and it is ridiculous of me to think it's true... but people have speculated on a simultaneous release with this season or a huge announcement after the finale.

He thinks it's done. Is this wild speculation or do you guys think he has insiders knowledge? Also what do you think his definition of 'soon' is, months, a year?

S501: The Wars to Come
S502: House of Black & White
S503: High Sparrow
Can guess the 3rd one. But the first two?

House Of Black And White is the headquarter of the Faceless Men in Braavos. Will be a Arya-centric episode.
The Wars To Come will build up...well the wars to come. Nights Watch vs Others, Stannis vs Boltons, Martells threatening the Lannisters, Daenerys vs Yunkai

Liam Cunningham who plays Davos said pretty much the same thing but how much info do the actors really have? Maybe they get outlines for what is happening to their characters in WotW but not release date info.
Although Liam is a good friend with D&D who would know from G. R. R. Martin.

On the other hand GRRM said he was working on 'The son of Kong' this past week, so clearly it's not 'done', but perhaps he is done writing it and has now moved on to editing?
