Re: Boxing thread
Clear cut win, the two 115-113´s were very generous towards Froch..wasnt ever that close.
Anyway, too skilled and too mobile for Froch and when inside did an expert job of tying up. Doesnt have great power, never hurt Froch, but when you are hiting and not getting hit like that your a star.

I thought the 3rd judge had it spot on tbh......
Yh Ward is never going to have a huge KO record but as Mayweather has shown you dominate opponents hitting them time and time again and never getting hit you become ridiculously hard to beat.....
I do wonder if there is not much left him at Super Middleweight and a move up in weight to Light Heavyweight could be in the offering....
Either way a star in the making if he isnt already for sure.

Re: Boxing thread
I had no problems with the Khan decision to be honest. It was a very close fight with a few swing rounds. As for the referee, he seemed like a bit of a clown screaming before the bell, but I can't really complain about the point deductions. Khan pushed Peterson over 50 times in the fight, that's just ridiculous. I agree with Dani that Khan's biggest problem is his defence. He just runs to avoid getting hit basically. I hope the rematch happens because it was a cracking fight but I wouldn't be too confident of a Khan victory. He'll enter as favourite but he'll have a lot of work to do. Peterson figured him out.
As for Ward, he's the best boxer on the planet not named Mayweather or Pacquiao, absolute class act.

Re: Boxing thread
Ironically the English ref was the one who scored it 118-110 :lol!:
That was more accurate of the fight though, Ward owned super 6.
Brute next please.

Re: Boxing thread
Agree with everything Paddy said about Khan, as for Ward being the 3rd best on the planet you wont get no arguments from me.....
As for the judge scoring it 118-110 i only found out about that today and i have to admit it made me giggle a little bit none the less it was the more accurate portrayal of the fight.

Re: Boxing thread
Hard to say if Ward is the 3rd best..it Manny even 2nd best right now? I know for sure Marquez would put another woopin on him again if they fought. Anyway, no matter.
I have heard about Ward moving up to lightheavy....or fighting Bute...really, he could do what he wants and he would be capable.
Would love to see him for the winner of Hopkins-Dawson if thats even possible.

He might be right. I think the Klitscko's, Manny, Nonito Donaire and JJMarquez deserve consideration.
Vitali and his brother suffer from lack of competiton, but in terms of ability I think Vitali especially is/was better then he gets credit for.
Marquez I think deserves consideration him, Ward and Martinez are all very close to me.
Overall I find the subject a hard one to judge tbh.

Re: Boxing thread
I wonder how Floyd will fare in the showers
The sad part is that this will probably actually help Mayweather's career. Coming out of prison Tyson fought a guy nobody had ever heard of - the fight done 1.5m ppv sales (more than every Mayweather/Pacquiao fight bar Floyd/De La Hoya) and grossed nearly 100 million dollars. Obviously there's a big difference between 4 years in the slammer and three months, but it's still something Floyd will be able to use as a promotional tool

Re: Boxing thread
lolololol truth finally coming out
Amir Khan believes a mystery man 'interfered' with the judging of his controversial points defeat to Lamont Peterson.
The American got the nod on the scorecards in his hometown of Washington on December 10 to take the WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles from the Bolton boxer.
Khan, who was deducted two points by referee Joe Cooper during the bout, used Twitter to post a series of messages, as well as pictures, to raise concerns over an individual at ringside sat next to judge Michael Walsh.
He said: "At the beginning of round 2 he (a guy wearing a grey suit with a blue shirt wearing a hat) manages to squeeze in at the front again sat next to Michael Walsh.
"Now the IBF and the WBA have still not confirmed who this guy is and what he was doing there...Now this guy doesn't do anything apart from watching the fight but that's only until round 6 when he starts to interfere!
"From round 6 all the way through to round 12 this guy starts to interfere with what Michael Walsh is doing and they are both not watching the fight.
"This is what I meant about how he was interfering, as no one is allowed - according to the rules - to touch, hold the scorecards or even talk to the judges during the fight."
And Khan's business manager Asif Vali has backed up his fighter's concerns about the man's ringside actions.
Vali said: "We don't know who the official is. We've asked the question, we've written to Washington DC and we're still waiting for their response, and we've written to the IBF and they've still not responded."

Re: Boxing thread
Needs to get over it. Moaning and crying isnt going to get him anywhere. He even appealed the decision. I mean if Marquez didnt appeal, you have no right to lol
He is getting his rematch aint he? Just let it go and move on, fans dont like you hear a guy crying this miss and it will only hurt his popularity.
I understand him if he feels robbed, I feel for him in that way. But the problem was, no matter what happened it was a close fight and people could of scored him losing the fight. When its like that, nobody is going to care.
When you get robbed like Lara, Chisora, Marquez..then you can cry and people might care.

Fixed..come on now lol
If Khan beat his ass and then got robbed then I would back this idea.
But it was a very close fight, it really could of gone either way.
It was a hometown decision, but not a fix.

Re: Boxing thread
So you guys heard about Mayweather right? ESPNs Dan Rafael said that Bob Arum was thinking about taking the May 5th date that Floyd hand in mind, and make a Pacquiao fight (once Money got sentenced and it became open).. But now that it got pushed back to June and Mayweather is looking to set up the fight on May 5th, Arum is saying Pacquiao injured himself in the Marquez fight and wont be ready until June
Btw here's ESPNs fight of 2011 if you guys haven't seen it..

Re: Boxing thread
RG i dont think this is about Manny tbh......
As Swagg_J said and Izzy said this about Arum accepting it.......
I have said from day one i believed both Pacquaio and Mayweather wanted the fight the problem always has been and probably still is the problem is getting Arum to accept it.......
The problems between Arum and Mayweather are well documented....
Hopefully Manny tells Arum to GTFO and get this fcking on.
