Italy vs uruguay
So is it just me or am i the only one looking forward to this match.
I know its just a freindly, but uruguay is probably the most in form team in the world right now, bein south american Champions and basically flawless in their performances since then.
So looking to see how italy will do as i see this match a great opportunity to get a better feel as to hiw the team is doing.
Will be a great match, i think we will def see some goals on wenesday with suarez cavani balotelli and pazzini all on the pitch.
How do u think the match will turn out ?
Im gonna go with 2 - 2 being the final score

Re: Italy vs uruguay
Should be a fantastic match. Two great attacking lines, two great midfields and two great defenses in front of two great keepers with two great coaches squaring off in the dug out.
I expect a very even affair.

Re: Italy vs uruguay
Its not only you mikey.
Everyone wants to see these 2 heavyweights face-off as Italia is arguebly the underdog here due to their team still work in progress by Prandelli.
Here is my line-up:
Buffon
Maggio-Ogbonna-Chellio-Criscito
De Rossi
Aquilani-Pirlo-Marchisio
Pazzo-Balo
Subs: Monty, Matri, Motta
Simply put Uruguay's only true threats come from Cavani and Suarez as Cavani will have to be man marked by Chiellini while Suarez must be kept a good eye on.
I really hope Tabarez will not play El Pistolero for 2 reasons.
1.He is suarez
2. He has played every game for Liverpool and needs rest.
I predict an upset here for Italia.

We won't concede 2 goals. My bet is 1-0 Italy or 0-0

Re: Italy vs uruguay
Uruguay actually have multiple threats than just Suarez and Cavani.
Martin Caceres and Diego Lugano will pose problems from set pieces and crosses. Alvaro Pereira is a marauding LB that will probably cause problems for whichever RB Prandelli goes with.
They may also have Gaston Ramirez in the middle along with Arevalo, who is a very tough tackler as well.
Italy may have the pedigree, but Uruguay are going to be in Rome to win.
Should be very entertainign.

My thoughts exactly which is why im excited for the match, will be a really good test for italy.
Passquale i wouldnt put it past uruguay to score 2, espc with ranochhia in the centre, dont grt me wrong he can be very good, but hasnt impressed me with italy so far.
2morro will be a good test for him as well as suarez an cavani are botj in good form this season.
Ps. Balotelli to score atleast 2 goals

Italy have a midfield though, most of the teams Uruguay are beating have no midfield. It's a different ball game when you come up against Pirlo, De Rossi etc.

Re: Italy vs uruguay
france are unbeaten since the world cup,i find nothing wrong on saying they are top 5.Not like there is an actual top 5,imo its just top 3 then the rest are mixed up,anyone can beat anyone.

Re: Italy vs uruguay
France's form has dipped noticeably. They are struggling for consistency as well as goals despite the strikers they have up front. I think it has something to do with the WC 2010 rebels being allowed back into the squad.
I rank Italy higher at the moment.

Don't get me wrong Mclewis, Uruguay are blessed with some solid players.
Yet, I meant threat in terms of ones actually compromising your position and gameplan for as this is how much of a threat Cav/Sua strike poses while the others as dangerous as they are, these players are the only world class players in the team and therefore should be focused more upon.

Understood.
Still, I think Uruguay collectively are more of a threat than you're giving them credit for. That's a major reason why they're so successful now. Everyone has a job and they all do it very well. This team collectively will cause problems for anyone in the world on their day.
Cavani and Suarez as well as Forlan are indeed their individual stars, but I've always admired Uruguay as a team and not because one or two players.

Re: Italy vs uruguay
Uruguay's four-goal hero from Friday, Luis Suarez, will miss out on the encounter with Italy on Tuesday, despite recovering from a minor muscle strain sustained in the last World Cup qualifying clash.
The Liverpool striker was in sensational form before the weekend against Chile, scoring all of Uruguay's goals in a 4-0 destruction of their South American rivals which put Oscar Tabarez's team at the top of the Conmebol standings for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The coach, however, confirmed on Monday evening in Rome that Suarez would not play a part in the next fixture, as the discomfort which forced him off the Centenario field early proved enough to convince the ex-AC Milan coach not to risk him in this friendly.
Suarez's place will be occupied by Sebastian Fernandez, with the Malaga forward partnering Edinson Cavani up front.
The introduction of Fernandez is one of three changes made for the Italy match. Benfica's Maxi Pereira starts on the right of midfield in place of Alvaro Gonzalez, while Porto's Cristian Rodriguez gets the nod ahead of Gaston Ramirez.
Thank God.

Very meh line up.
Ive been calling for maxi and caceres to double up for a while. Much more potent then maxi and gonzalez. Cebolla is meh..... Uruguayans like him cause he works hard for us but he has no final product. Hes fast strong good dribbling but hes a ghost on the filed and clearly missing mathch fitness. Fernandez is meh id rather hernandez play who is much more exciting and talented but hes injured. i give this to italy.
