Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
One sees that Neuer adds moves from handball to his already great abilities. (He mentioned in an interview a while ago that he looks at how handball goalies act and tries to incorporate some of this, too.)

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
he's a great goalie because he can make saves, not this nonsense about using his feet, that guys like terstatue, guardiola, et al try to promote. you have one primary job, making saves, and he does that......hope he has a poorer game in the return leg, and that we take our chances this time. i do not want us to make neuer look any greater

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
Neuer is a fantastic goalkeeper, but the fact that the majority of our shots were fired straight towards wherever he happened to be standing, certainly made his job easier than it should've been. Come to think of it, not only were the majority of the shots fired going straight at him, but both teams scored a goal through shots/headers fired directly towards where the goalie was standing

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
so what you're saying is, Benzema is the most significant player in football history, then?

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
Way more significant than this lad actually, people have things to say about Benzema. Neuer? No one cares.

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
It's not a hot take just look at the conversation Benzema generates. Meanwhile Neuer takes credit for things Valdes did all his career, before him... This is a take

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
I watched the match between Tottenham and Bayern, he had a great game. He did really well to save Moura's bullet header from close range, as well as Son's shot towards the far side of the goal. It's probably a bit early to claim that he's back to his best, though

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
A bit of Bayern Dusel for Neuer earlier as El Paco took advantage of a Neuerism. Been a good match for early/pre season.

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
In reality Neuer prevented a goal by closing down Paco as early as the half way line and putting pressure on him to shoot wide

Re: Manuel Neuer appreciation thread
Neuer is just a German's Valdes.
If anything Valdes is the original sweeper keeper, people made it seem like Neuer invented something lol

Love Neuer but would never swap him with ter Stegen who, in fact, is the bearer of the "Best in the world" title.
