there goes cassano..:(
official he will be out for several months
"AC Milan, according to medical reports of the Policlinico in Milan, have said that Antonio Cassano has experienced ischemic cerebral damage," read a statement. "The instrumental and neuroradiological examinations ran their course for 72 hours and have highlighted the problem in the circumscribed area of the brain that did not result in persistent neurological deficits.
"The cause was identified as the presence of a patent foramen ovale, detectable only with sophisticated, specialised investigations. The timing of therapy established has allowed a rapid recovery and improvement of clinical conditions that are good.
"In the coming days the player will undergo a small surgical interventional cardiology (closure of the foramen ovale). The recovery time for his return will be better defined after the surgery, but probably will be a few months."

Re: there goes cassano..:(
wow maradonna isnt as bad as i thought he was
Maradona wrote Cassano an open letter that was published by Il Corriere dello Sport.
An extract of the note reads: "These are very difficult moments where Cassano must be strong, think about himself, his family and children. I am thinking of you a lot in these days and I was struck by what has happened.
"I know the feelings when going through a dark period and so I am close to you and Gennaro Gattuso who is also going through a sad time.
"However, I know that from the time I met you in Rome that you have a strong and positive character. The affections of those who love you will help you overcome this.
"I hope football can see your return soon because the fantasy of players like you in football is never enough."
Milan said Cassano would be out for some time once surgery is completed, but they did not confirm how many months.

i feel for cassano!, just when he was peaking and his form was getting better and better this happens!, i truly feel for him...
anyway i think cassano's footballing career is 70% over now and i'm really sorry to say that, the "several months" is simply very unrealistic, injuries like these take atleast a year or two and in most cases the athlete is advised against coming back to competitive sports...
a huge blow for us, i hope we have better luck with pato...

Cassano get well! Thoughts and prayers go out to you
We have El Shaarawy who has played this year, then whenever Pato comes back, major thing is we need a creative player, Cassano's 7 assists were very important so Eriksen is a must even if he is cup-tied he would be important for the league which we do have to focus on as well, I don't want that Scudetto badge off our shirts

Which one of those can do what cassano has done so far this season...He is the best player for us so far this season...
I feel really bad for cassano just when he was getting better....I doubt hes gonna come back to be honest..I wouldn't if i were him after the operation its hard to tell how well he will recover.

Re: there goes cassano..:(
Allegri doesnt trust in Sharawy, Pato will most likely get long time injured soon once again, Pippo has been injured for like 1 year. I think this means that we will go with the old dinosaur strategy, we buy Amauri and give him a 10 year contract.

That sucks.... having this kind of surgery could make him completely inelligible to return. He'll have to completely re-do his medical evaluation with the club.

Re: there goes cassano..:(
I'm surprised many of the forum's boys are talking about Anelka and El Shaarawi's need to step up, while a father and a husband is experiencing his relatively short life's toughest time ever.
Hello! If you haven't noticed yet, Cassano is having a cardiac surgery! At 29 he's going through a complicated surgery and some people talk about Anelka!
I'm not a huge fan of Cassano the player, and believe he can only do well against average-to-small Italian teams, but here I'm talking about a man.
I love you all, but at the same time, disappointed at some of us too.
Let's talk about January's hopefully wondrous transfer campaign later and in a relevant thread.
I hope Fantantonio returns to Football, be it in Milan or anywhere else. Because only Football can save him now.

Re: there goes cassano..:(
We all need to read Iras' post over and over again to remind ourselves what this is about and who it really affects. Cassano has a young child who won't understand us when we complain about our team, but he'll understand the look in the eyes of his parents, he'll understand the tears of his mother and he'll cry as well.
There'll come a day in the future when all their smiles will return. Let's just look forward to that day in this thread.

Re: there goes cassano..:(
I partially agree with what u say!yes, hes having a tough time ,but its not life threatening and he is not gonna be broke! however,i want Cassano back because he is too young to stop playing futbal, hes a rossonero and a damn fine one. his health for his family comes first ,and then futbal.anyways, talking about his replacement this early was just ridiculous by some people here!IrasMaldinista wrote:I'm surprised many of the forum's boys are talking about Anelka and El Shaarawi's need to step up, while a father and a husband is experiencing his relatively short life's toughest time ever.

i think it's premature to start talking about antonio's replacement just yet. We should be more concerned with how himself and his family overcome this dark period
get well soon FANTANTONIO, i hope u return with your smile. I will always keep u in my prayers

Bunch of women on this forum, I swear.. So concerned about the feelings of someone who's never going to read these posts and probably couldn't care less about our opinions. Milan's administrative staff is surely already thinking about replacements. Why can't we?

OK, Nick, if they can't read my feminine post, can they read your smart, masculine posts about transfers?
Wake up boy, we're here for fun. We can't suggest.
You're so enthusiastic to think about replacements the way Milan's managers do, don't you? Well, let me know if Adri G utilized your genius transfer master-plans in near future.
If you predict Messi will come to Milan, and it does come true, would anybody reward you?
On the other hand, would I GAIN anything for feeling for Cassano?
The answer to both questions' is obvious, but then, one thing remains in memories, and that is the fact that you allowed yourself to call people names, people like me who would love to have you as a friend...
Work some way out to fix it, cuz I'm shocked and hurt by your post.

Re: there goes cassano..:(
On the eve of Antonio’s operation yesterday Pato spoke of his friend and team mate: “Antonio is like a brother. I hope everything will be fine and he gets back as quick as possible. The team needs him and I’ll be waiting with open arms.”
MILAN – On the sidelines of the “Goal for Research” presentation which on Saturday and Sunday this weekend will see Italian football lend a hand to AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer research), Pato spoke about his friend and team mate Antonio Cassano.
“I found about what happened to Antonio on Sunday and I tried to get in contact as quickly as possible because the rumors in circulation had me very worried. A soon as the doctors let me, I immediately went to see him in hospital together with Antonini and only when I saw him did I manage to calm down a bit. We had a laugh and a joke like always.”
“I hope the operation goes well and that he gets back soon because the team needs him – Pato continued – I’m sure he’ll come back even better than before and his character and his way of approaching football will help him in that regard. I played with him in the past and I’m counting on doing it again in the future. We shouldn’t try to hurry things though. He has to get better first. The team will be waiting with open arms because we know just how important a player he is for the team.”
