Wow, this was the last score I expected to wake up to  Pitch looks good and 400 is definitely achievable.

Catching up on highlights. Root and Moeen were both really good. Surprised how matured Moeen's batting has been. Certainly better than his bowling.

Also that C&B of Root. It wasn't out imo.

If he catches it normally then throws it up to celebrate I don't think there's any problem. It's only because he pretty much caught it with his wrists that there was doubt. But then Root walked straight away so I don't know why they even went to the third umpire.

Cook certainly should have reviewed his LBW though. Can only guess he wanted to keep reviews in stock for the others but he could have cashed in on this pitch.

481-8. Ali got his 100, now Stokes is 104 not out. We'll declare soon and have a go at India during the final session, I think (if we're not bowled out before then).

Stokes now has 100s in Australia, South Africa and India

Tbh Inida will probably get 500 themselves and this test will end up drawn. Pitch looks flat af.

Those BCCI cowards wont authorise rank turners. They are well aware of the ineptness of Indian batting against quality spin (as is evidenced in the last 2 series against Eng). So naturally they would have advised to create a flat track.

Yet Ali looked more dangerous than Indian spinners. Tomorrow is gonna be exciting day of cricket imo. Ball will turn and also Stoke has ability to reverse, let's see how World's no.1test side deals with it.

Not in a million years I thought England would make past 300 before the start of the match. But this batting  :bow :

Stokes is amazing.

Pitch has died over a day but still to make over 500 runs

Lol told yo. No one in India cares about test cricket. Here questions will only be asked if we loose a home test series. Even if the series ends in a 0-0 stalemate, I am not sure whether the board and the fans will mind much. So they know a flat track is the safest option to assist  the best batting lineup flat track bullies in world cricket.

The best we can hope for is to get a sporting wicket in the last test match. Because these poses might by then receive some criticisms from former players and that might prompt them to make it slightly more even in terms of bat and all.

There's a little bounce variance and some turn, but not much else for the bowlers. It's crazy that both sets of bowlers have actually bowled really well yet five players have gotten 100s.

I guess India will bat out all of tomorrow then see if they can get us to collapse on day 5.

So things could get interesting now that England have got Pujara and Vijay out. Kholi looks settled but they'll have a new batsman (Rahane I think?) to go at tomorrow and from what I've heard India's lower order isn't great.

There is no lower order for india, just some random scrubs who would be whacking ball from the word go. so if England strike early tomorrow, things can turn pretty much in favour of them.

Seems whenever we tour India we get one player who emerges as a great talent:

2006 - Cook
2008 - Swann
2012 - Root
2016 - Hameed?

Kid looks pretty good out there. Out of all the openers we've used since Strauss retired Hameed has looked by far the most comfortable.

Now if Duckett can establish himself at four we'll have a good batting line-up.

England leading by 139 runs. Get that up to 300 by lunch tomorrow and we might be able to force a result.

Let's hope so. There is a spot available in the team and it's up for the grabs. If Hameed impresses in the other matches as well then no doubt he is going to be given a lot more chances.

Rashid's bowling though  getting Kohli out was probably the reason we managed to have a lead.

Tomorrow is day 5 isn't it? Can't see anything but a draw. If we give a 300 target then it could backfire considering India have some heavy hitters.

The next Ashes are in Australia so it'll be a very tough series for us even against a struggling team.

Not quite sure what's going wrong for them right now. The Sri Lanka series defeat was bad, but I didn't think they'd get bowled out for under a 100 on home soil. Against a South Africa without Steyn as well.
