Rui Costa, Figo, Simao, Deco...Portugal really miss these players in the NT.
Also, Maniche was a beast in the NT.

Portugal NT's problem in the last 10 years has been a world class striker. If they had one, I think they would have won Euro04, and might've made it to the WC06 final. Pauleta was good, but not WC imo

But now, they have more problems than just a striker..

So many people kneejerking and getting emotional and trying to be superior over 50 minutes of a Ronaldo friendly match when we all know he is not that amazing internationally anyway. Get a grip ffs.

And I would have bet anything that is Szeczny never made that good save this thread would not even have been bumped. When Ronaldo came off Portugal still didn't do anything.

Portugal's biggest problem is gameplan more than anything.

Despite Nani and Cristiano being great, the entire focus of your attack shouldnt be the flank.

They get the ball, spread it wide, go 1 v 1 and see what comes of it.

I times I seen them, hardly any of it through the center trying to probe the defence.

They have the players to play more balanced, but the gameplan seems to not allow this.

Portugal still playing with Almeida, I think the problem has alkways been not having a class striker. If they get that they will so mcuh improved. And Ronaldo is always selfish and tries to does it on his own too much...Nani is inconsistent.

Danny is the best SS, actually. Something about the way Danny plays bugs me but still I think the above formation will work with him.

Almeida and Postiga should be call as back up. Eliseu and Varela are the best alternatives on the wings. Meireles, Fernandes, and Machado for the MF. Rolando, Brandao, Pereira, and Nelson for the Backline. Beto and Eduardo for GK back up.

why dont they do it then.. they already have a a decent winger in quaresma and frankly they need goals , and obviously ronaldo will more decisive in front.. i could see him give a lot of problems to the dutch and german defense as a no 9
