Is Altintop Lass' replacement? Empty Is Altintop Lass' replacement?

Post by Mr Nick09 Fri Jun 10, 2011 10:32 pm

If we are indeed signing Coentrao to play him as inverted RB, Arbeloa is going to be his natural back up. And even Coentrao could play LB if marcelo is unavailable, we would still have Arbeloa and Ramos available for RB and Pepe, carvalho in the middle.

So i highly doubt he will back up the wing back positions. We signed Callejon to cover th advanced wing positions, left and right, so even on the wings there will be traffic.

Is he just a luxury Stands back up or will he feature as Khedira's B2B cover, as he is a natural CM, and can actually play deeper.

Mourinho is showing a preference towards versatile footaballers with great work rate, as opposed to specialists, a pure DM in this case, as he even tried to turn lass into a B2B.

So is Altintop a glorified reserve and will see someone else push him down the pecking order, or will he be active as Khedira's back up?

Deffinetly not good than khedira, but Altintop is an all around playermaker or He can most certainly play as cm/dm but he is best at RB i suppose.
I suggest asking Bayern fans, I have only seen couple of bayern games where Altintop has played an Cm role so, i cant really rate him, how good he is in that position.

Well he is more versatile than Lass, as he can play on the wings too. He will probably just be all round cover.

Lass? Not a great DM though. More like Granero. A cross between Granero and Lass. Which is why his signing was so unnecessary...

Yeh our regular backups for each position probably deserve to play more than he does.

I would say yes since I have this feeling that we are planning to continue playing 4-2-3-1. Some may think that I'm crazy but I will say that Sahin is not an indisputable starter like many here thinks. If we count that Gago and Lass are already out then we have Sahin, Alonso, Khedira, Altintop, Granero left and if we compare their skill sets then Sahin and Alonso are similar types (playmakers) and so are Khedira and Altintop (workhorses). Granero is a mix of both styles which is very useful.

I however think the 433 is very much going to be a formation we play a lot, specially with sahin being here. It's tactically safe and with attacking wings back, it would make sense.

we didnt buy him just to sit at the bench for ever, he must have some utility and purpose that mou intends to give to him

all his signings have purposes.

strong ones maybe except for callejon which is just a replacement for leon

lol...or maybe mourinho has some sort of fetish for ugly footballers that run around in shorts for 90 minutes...

hahaha but seriously who gives a shit about your looks when you have a skillset as great as ozil's and can run as fast as di maria...people will still love you.

We'll leave it up to the girls to decide you is ugly and who is not, I'm more concerned with how they play. If the rumor is true that Perez didn't want Ronaldinho purely because of his looks, then that is the biggest mistake in the history of football. As a Real Madrid fan I am coded to dislike all Barca players but out of the 21st Century I can't help but dream of what our team would have been like with Ronaldinho or Iniesta- those two players are amongst my list of favourites of all time.

Quite frankly, nowhere. I expect him to be that versatile league and cup player that we will use to plug holes. I don't expect him to get CL playing time either unless we have an injury crisis.

If he does play it will have to be in central midfield or possibly RM or LM.

I've seen him at fullback, he is no good there- positioning is too suspect.

He will be the player who enters the pitch in the last 15 minutes, depending on the score.
He would take Di Maria or Ozil or Benzema/Higuain place and solidify our midfield with the likes of Xabi, Khedira/sahin ...

So imo he'll be playing RM/RCM.

The funniest thing is, I don't think that Altintop has as good technique as Gago, nor can he defend better than Lass but he is definitely more of an all rounder, which is Mou's favourite type of player to sign at the moment.

I think what Babun means is that he doesn't see him as Real Madrid pedigree. Then again, he seems to be a very passionate player and one thing we know about Mou, is that hard work impresses him. So if Altintop pushes hard in pre-season, he might just become one of the biggest pleasant surprises of the transfer market.

Altintop is a work horse and he said himself that his dream is to play for Real. When the work rate of Hamit is combined with his desire to play for the club expect running from him for 90 mins lol.
