I have no problem with Mascherano aslong as Pique is there beside him, but as Pique is'nt there atm the lack of a ball playing CB is obvious....
Hummels can be that defender though. I'm sure you've seen some of the long balls he's played out of the back for Dortmund. Beautiful stuff.

Will Hummel's sit on the bench to pick up a bigger pay cheque?
I doubt it and when Puyol goes he wont be starting either because Hummels and Pique is'nt working no way.....
I said experienced and proven for a reason someone in his late 20s and Puyol's replacement should be someone in the Sakho mould and not a footballing CB.....
2 slow CB's in a high backline is suicide.

Barca dont need to spend huge money on defenders. They can easily promote someone from their youth who:
1. Has been raised to play that game.
2. Has quick feet.

The youth while talented, are not ready yet which is why i would have bought an experienced ball playing defender to play when Pique is not fit...

Good times......
I agree with you anyway.

garay would have been perfect partner with pique
not fast, but very much aware of everything a pity that he always used to get injured though

Look at Owen, barely played at Madrid but due to his age and EPL experience, an EPL club broke the bank to sign him. No way would Madrid expect that fee when selling a 3rd choice striker in an open market.
Sign Cahill for peanuts in Jan and a profit is guaranteed when Spurs etc come knocking.
Thats if he doesnt work out
Yeah, but what I mean is I dont think Pep or anyone at Barca are even considering someone like him.
I dont disagree, but I equally dont see it happening.

- he is gd on the ball, gd physically.. performed well with spain u21 in the summer & got a call for NT
- Cheap, i read somewhere that we still has a buyback option, will cost us less than 5M (not sure)
- he came from our academy ( La Masia)
- played 2 years in La Liga with Gijon ( have some experience)
-----------------
one of the reasons i don't want a CB: Chyg (25M), Caceres (16M), Henrique (14M) all flopped @ Barca.. i don't want us to spend big again on another Cb who could flop again.. anyone has a specific/realistic name? (note: T.Silva or Sakho are very expensive & their clubs won't sell)
Botia isnt good enough.
I understand why you dont want to spend big money, but who's fault is it they chose the wrong targets? None of those players did anything to suggest they have the ability to play for us and none of them have the correct skillset in the first place.
There is nothing wrong with buying and paynig good money if you actually think hard about what you need.
Man Utd took Smalling and Jones quickly and paid what was needed, because they knew they had the talent and the right profile to fit the club.

We dont have anyone ready. Fontas is the most ready and Pep dont trust him. Cna have all the talent in the world but if Pep dont believe in him it dont matter.
Another reason why I like buying, because you paid money you have to at least try him.
Then again, Caceres barely got chances after making a couple errors.

We tried, but we didnt want to pay and you did. Then we went and spent more on Caceres because we had no more targets......annoying.

Garay would have had a lot more minutes in Madrid if it wasn't for his injury record. A shame really : /

That is true, but it only takes one foray down the pitch to be intercepted and it would be fatal.....
As i said 2 CB's of that type in a high line is suicide, with Pique there Barca need a Sakho type not a Hummels type imo.
