And yet people claim Messi had a same season as Ronaldo had last season.

If Messi doesn't WIN ballon d'or for his out of the world efforts having a better than the likes of Pele and Muller ever had, it will be a great Travesty for the footballing world.
A quick word on the notion that somehow Ronaldo's 10-11 season and achievements were equal to Messi's 11-12 season: That is a myth as in addition to the stats of both being close last season, Messi did not ONLY win in La Liga team-wise but also WON the UCL title with a goal in the final and also Semis against CRs Madrid. Ntm that this season Messi was the protagonist in the wins we enjoyed over Madrid as well. So yes, CR pur the final nail in our coffin in the league but the roles of both these players were far from reversed as is claimed by many.

The reason behind comparing Messi's 11-12 season with Ronaldo's 10-11 by some people (most of them are madrid biased ofcourse) is simply the similar team trophy(Copa del rey ) they achieved.
They are clearly ignoring or trying to ignore the breaking of such a record which was made by someone considered as legend and that sustained for so many years even though many footbaling legend came and ruled the world in between. They are also ignoring that this is the fourth consecutive season Barca played CL semifinal and fourth consecutive season Messi is the UCL top scorer. rather they love to think that because Messi and Ronaldo both were out in CL semifinal they share the same weight in CL....interesting.
I also read some comments in other blog that Ronaldo has taken weak portugal team to semifinal. i don think people need a brain to call this portugal team a balanced one atleast. All of a sudden defeating Czech(who came through the weakest group) and Holland (who came home with 0 points) became so important whereas carrying Argentina in world cup qualifier is regarded as very simple task. Is not this for Messi, Argentina is now in the top of south american qualifying.
