AC Milan 2011/2012: The Champions League squad list
by Meytar Zeevi under News
HERE is the list of players Milan will have available for the Champions League.

The Champions League Group Stage draw has already been made and Milan will play in Group H along with current Spain champions FC Barcelona, Belarusian champs BATE and Czech champs Plzen.

Milan’s first game in the Champions League is against Barcelona on September 13 and today (Thursday), Coach Massimiliano Allegri has announced his 25-men squad for the UEFA Champions League.

Friendly: Como 1-2 AC Milan
Report: Montolivo to Milan in 2012

The injured Mathieu Flamini has not been included while youngster Stephan El Shaarawy has lost in place on the list for the experienced defender Daniele Bonera. The real surprise is that Champions League King, Mr. Athens, Filippo Inzaghi has been left out of the squad for this year’s Champions League edition.

Very surprised to not see Inzaghi included. Bold move by Allegri, but hopefully he knows what he is doing.
Also surprised to see 10 defenders, including De Sciglio, rather than El Sharaawy, an attacking midfielder

God god.

Sometimes Max really bores me with his choices as his selection to go safe can be dull.

Inzaghi is our plan-B, our most feared champions league player who knows CL football inside out and has come through for us year after year and yet Allegri omits him?

And why isn't El-Sharaaway in there as it would be exciting to see him take on europe. It would be integral to his development to be exposed to an environment such as the CL as this gamble could have payed off.

Is this for the whole CL or group stages?

And can someone tell me why the **** is BONERA THERE?!!!!

U-21 players are not required to be registered to be eligible in CL

EDIT:

Seems like they change the requirement to List B this season =X

If my interpretation is correct, El Shaarawi probably can not play in CL group stage =X

Was referring to El-Shaarawi's situation rather than Inzaghi's situation =X

But after seeing the rules, it seems that El Shaarawi can't play in CL too, funny moves from Allegri =/

EDIT:

I think I see why De Sciglio is in the list, but why De Sciglio is listed there, but not Verdi instead?

And instead of Bonera, Allegri can always put in Inzaghi/El Shaarawi in his stead =/

Sort of figured that out but was unsure =X

But still, Allegri could have included Inzaghi/El Shaarawi in Bonera's stead but why Bonera???

No Inzaghi ? This was an awful choice by Allegri. Just ridiculous...

Allegri better justify this miserable action soon , because Inzaghi is a ****** legend.

They contibue trolling us. I can understand that we get AM in winter, but why not letting Shaarawy play until then?

Inzaghi is an atomic weapon, he can strike out of nowhere

But if my interpretation of the 11/12 B list rule is correct, then El Shaarawi is not eligible for B list.

Apparently the player need to be born on/after 01/01/90 and has to be eligible to play for the said club for 2 years uninterrupted. Meaning that El Shaarawi who had just transferred to Milan is not eligible for List B =X

I'm the saddest person not to see Pippo on the list, but Allegri explained that pippo is still injured and doesn't want to risk him in the first fase. He can always add him in the next part of the champions league.

IMO he will score the winning doppietta in the final

Pippo will be back in January. He was expelled from the list due to low physical condition.

I don't know if I should share this here or what...

But heck, let's spit it out.

I saw a nightmare last night, in which Milan got eliminated in the round of last 16!!!

Boy did I sweat a gallon and a half!

I remember some of it, just that I was trying to justify everything, quite hopelessly, to my Madridista bro who kept making fun of me and Milan for it, but I hardly remember if it was Real Madrid that defeated us or whoever else.

Let's hope your buddy's dream was 'JUST' a dream!

And please forget about this post altogether...

Nicholas Menger had a similar dream about Tottenham last year. Don't worry, the only thing accurate about your dream will be the fact that we qualified from our group :coffee:

I'm not sure that I understand what you mean when you say "eligible to play for the said club for 2 years uninterrupted." Does this mean that a B list player can not be on loan from another team, or that how long they have been with the team is considered? Because I believe it's possible to interpret those rules in favour of El Shaarawi, however that doesn't necessarily mean he will be available.

Also in answer to your Verdi question, he's playing for Torino this season.

B List is for those born after Jan 1, 1990, and have been with Milan for at least 2 seasons since they turned 15.

AH...that's why I didnt see his name in Milan's team list =X

But I understand the inclusion of De Sciglio is to fill up the "club trained" players quota.... We used to use Oddo to fill in that list, but since now he's gone somewhere, I guess someone from Primavera needs to be put there =X

I'm praying hard for no injury to our first team because seeing Bonera play in CB(or RB/LB) against Barcelona is going to be an epic facepalm moment
