Funny thing is, had United got their last minute bid last night for Henderson accepted (player wanted to come to LFC), no one would have complained as it would have been a typical Ferguson buy.

He comes to Liverpool and the world goes mad :cyclops:

Yea. he did.

Didn't do much different than Henderson of Sunderland, which mind you, was still really good for a 18 year old.

This year was his break-through season though. At a better club, with better players, under his own manager who wants to nurture him.

Wilshere is worth Henderson + £ x.
But Henderson should still be very good. Not quite worth £ 20m, but Sunderland had little reason to sell, so I can understand the fee.

Championship strikers go to other championship teams for 5-6M.

Frazer Campbell switches teams for 7M, Carlton Cole has a 10M price....that's England market for you.

a 20 year old, regular in u-21, with 2 full PL season experience and already capped in international level will not be cheap.

We aren't like Italians to loan players to their rivals for free Very Happy

Transfer market has gone crazy. Wilshere is not worth more than 25. Henderson was bought for 20 does not mean he is worth that much.

I cant comment on the differences between the English and Italian transfer markets bc to be quite frank Juventus are always so busy in the market that I cannot pay attention to the details regarding trends in transfers in England, so ill take your word for it. But the point is is that is he good enough to make a (somewhat) high priced move to Liverpool? I dont think so, but for 'Pools sake I hope he turns out to be a good buy for u guys Afro

That is not how I see it. Henderson's market value may be 12 million (what he is worth), but a team can bid more than hat.

A lot of this goes on behind closed doors. There's always information that the public is not privy to. There could very likely have been competing bids, which ultimately drives up the price.

Do I think we paid over his market value? Absolutely.
