Re: Mario Gotze
Miki is Dortmund's best player this season.
If Goetze comes he will probably take the 10 over Kagawa.
So you have -
Auba
Reus Goetze Miki
# Dembele as sub who can play CF, 10, LW, RW, so he will start in almost every match with rotation counting injuries to players like Goetze, Reus who are injury prone.
I think Dortmund a decent winger, fast to add depth concerning their injury issues & 3 competitions - Pulisic is probably gonna be that guy or they have someone else.
I hope they don't sell Ramos, he is a decent 2nd or 3rd choice CF & decent for BL matches.
The problem will replacing Gundogan at CM, who will partner Weigl? Castro, Sahin? No1 has the technicality, skill, poise, etc that a Gundogan brings!

Gundogan wont go anywhere. City are looking at other options like Xhaka and Thiago.

Would any posters familiar with German news sources be willing to provide some context on whether this particular paper is reliable?

Re: Mario Gotze
After the post match interview its clear he is leaving. But i think it will be BVB.
edit: just read that according to kicker, Götze doesnt want to return to BVB. So Liverpool has the best chances

It is definitely reliable. RP don't usually engage themselves in transfer news unless it's directly sent to them/it comes from their own sources. And seeing how RP also got the Ancelotti-Götze conversation first, it's safe to say that someone from either Götze's or Bayern's camp wants to inform the public about Götze's situation via RP.
Who knows if what RP was told is true, but what is certain is that they don't clickbait.

Re: Mario Gotze
THe Rheinische Post (RP Online) is sort of the home paper for Borussia M'gladbach. They are usually very reliable (even more so when they write about Gladbach).

Re: Mario Gotze
It's already been reported that Gotze to BVB will not happen. I think it was Kicker or Bild or one of one those.

Re: Mario Gotze
Stunning reversal in the Götze saga!!
Götze has fired his agent and then proclaimed that he's looking forward to the season at FC Bayern and is intent on playing for Carlo Ancelotti
Speculation is flourishing now. I could imagine his agent leaked that supposed Ancelotti phone call to get offers going, and Götze didn't like it. He likes being a squad player for us
Very surprising news tbh. EVERYTHING, absolute everything was pointing towards an exit from Bayern.
Everyone hinted at it, every commentator expected him to leave and many advised him to join Liverpool; even Löw suggested he should leave
A very, very unexpected, strange reversal out of nothing tbh.
I'd call it inexplicable, but tbf it makes sense if you consider the recent involvement of @Don't call me James in this matter

I hadn't, tbh just got home and had only read headlines.
I've read it now though, pretty gossipy if I might say. "Man hört...". The guy is very close to Dortmund isn't he?
The story about the agent is really interesting. Obviously I don't like this agent very much for his role in the Kroos transfer (where he clearly used his inside knowledge of Götze's wages to rile Kroos up, which I guess is fair enough).
Anyway, I don't think the whole thing is surprising.
Still think Götze will probably leave, and I think we would very much like to sell him.
However I could imagine neither Liverpool nor a return to BVB being destinations he's completely happy with, and I think he's right.
I think he should try to play a good EM and then see if better clubs come for him, maybe Juve will renew their interest which IMO would be the best outcome for him.
Until then, it's the right thing to do to claim he's looking forward to staying.

Need a CM more.
Marchisio is out until December atleast.
Budget is not big enough for both CM and AM.

Re: Mario Gotze
Been pulled from the team indefinitely
'Borussia Dortmund will have to do without their midfielder Mario Gotze,' read the club's statement.
'The world champion has been struggling with muscular problems in recent months, leading to a thorough internal search for possible causes.
'Investigations have now revealed metabolic disorders, which make it absolutely necessary to take Gotze out of training.'
Someone more knowledgeable about such things break it down for me, they make it sound rather serious and potentially career threatening

So finally they found out what the hell is wrong with him. A metabolism disorder leading to phlegmatic behaviour and fat slobdom.
