SERGIO AGUERO’S career at Manchester City could be short-lived amid growing speculation that the striker still wants to complete a dream move to Real Madrid.

Sources in Spain claim that the Argentine international’s record £38million transfer to City is merely a stepping stone to a future switch to the Bernabeu.
Aguero’s former club Atletico Madrid repeatedly refused to sell him to their arch rivals in the Spanish capital.
But rumours in Spain suggest a secret deal has been struck between City owner Sheikh Mansour and Real president Florentino Perez.
This would allow Aguero to play for City in the short term – perhaps for just a season – before completing the move he most craves to Real.

And even if, as expected, Atletico have insisted on a clause in the 22-year-old’s five-year contract at City that they cannot sell him on to Real, the suggestion is that City will find a way to by-pass that agreement.
Aguero could be registered with Mansour’s Al-Jazeera club and sold to Real before he kicks a ball for the Abu Dhabi outfit. Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has been adamant that the striker would not move across the city to their Madrid rivals.

But a Spanish source said: “Aguero’s dream has always been to play for Real. While he is excited about playing for City, his ultimate aim is a move to the Bernabeu.

“It could be a short stay, and there is nothing Atletico can do to stop it. A lot of people in Spain believe he will join Real at the earliest opportunity.”

Real engineered a similar ploy when they wanted to sign striker Hugo Sanchez from Atletico in 1985.
Atletico refused to sell him to their rivals but Sanchez joined Mexican club Pumas. He then joined Real the next day – without kicking a ball for Pumas.
