It's happened before. Fairly sure there was a match where we scored an offside goal and the referee went down to league 1 or 2. Players have said he has more power than the prime minister in England, probably true.

Ferguson is the most respected person in English football right now. Under his reign Manchester United have become a great "ambassador" of the English game and if he is not happy about something then the FA will at the very least listen to him.

Busby, Shankly, Paisley, Revie and Clough all had similar sway when they were 'The man".
