Best player in the EPL?
Re: Best Player in the Premier League?
Rooney is the best player in the EPL, no question, his playmaking skills are very underrated despite the fact hes a WC finisher and has the vision of scholes.
Also to be fair, Nani is maybe the most skillfull player in the EPL

Cesc is a good passer, nothing skilful outside that, his dribbling is average, his shooting is average, his passing is WC, so where does the easily part fit in?

what the frak are you talking bout, I mean Cesc would easily be the best, but his dribbling is not average , his close control is incredible and he has a turn that most players would dream of.

Dont forget Rooney is getting more money then Cesc and RVP put together I hope this does not turn in to another war thread. Rooney is my fav united player.

Just wondering, how is that different from Rooney?
Substitute passing for shooting and yeah....

Have u not seen rooney pass? Are we seriously judging his long range and short range passing? Not being offensive but the dude is scholes-eque quality in passing...

Welcome to the club.
Partly cause he's underrated (is he anymore?), but I do have a Modric shirt so...kinda had to.
I will correctly assume the second part as kidding and strike that for you mate.
Modric is now GODRIC.

Aye, well aware that he can knock a brilliant mile-long pass every now and again...but lets not act like he's Paul Scholes doing it every other game...Rooney is more like once every two lunar cycles...

van Persie became the first player to score in seven successive Premier League away games when he scored against Bolton, beating Didier Drogba's record who was on six successive away games, between August and November 2009.
van Persie managed to score in his ninth consecutive away match, bringing his goal tally for the season to a personal record of 18 league goals. He also equalled the record held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry by scoring 18 league goals from the turn of the year to the end of the season. He ended the season just two goals behind joint league top scorers, Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov in the race for the golden boot.

This means he has been the best for half a season! In my opinion, until he plays an entire season, he will never be in the contention of being the best player. Fitness plays a huge role in ranking and Van Persie's poor fitness will always cost him!

Re: Best Player in the Premier League?
bhends wrote:Yes, yes if we were holding a competition of who could score the most goals in half a season Van Persie would win...but the EPL plays full seasons, and Van Persie is physically incapable of playing a full season, so while you can marvel all you want about "Look how much Van Persie scored in only half a season!" please don't dare try to imply that should Van Persie play a full season, he could score twice as many goals (or anything like that) because we all know that he cannot, in fact, play a full season
If we're talking about potential and capability, then this post is pretty meaningless. Just sounds like someone is butthurt

Re: Best Player in the Premier League?
RVP is definitely up there. Not sure why people are choosing Rooney because of the second part of the EPL, and is leaving RVP in his shadows. RVP was about the same with Rooney, maybe even better.
Also, if Rooney wasn't playing for United, he'd definitely be loved by everone in the EPL. But, he does, so he's last on the list. :geek:
Anyway, Tevez for me. He's awesome.
Well, after Suarez. =P
Wenger also made him.
No Gerrard? Really? He's never been the best in the past? Come on now...

Probably would have said Fabregas a few months ago but Wenger has ruined him.
Wenger also made him.
The likes of Fernando Torres, Theirry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Zola, Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Shearer, Lampard, Didier Drogba, John Terry etc could all claim to be the best in the past and most would agree but it's not like that these days is it?
No Gerrard? Really? He's never been the best in the past? Come on now...

Daniel Agger!! or at least he is good 2 weeks per year (the time when he isn't injured)
Probably Vidic or Suarez for me, both amazing in their own aspect
