Maybe because this selection philosophy won him a World Cup and tied a World Record winning streak and he doesn't care what you think. Just a thought.
Boo-hoo, what if I dont care what you think?

Re: Spain is the Future
Arquitecto wrote:Negredo has been in really nice form Arquitecto. His inclusion makes all sorts of sense although I thought he was injured or something. Prieto seriously needs a call up in all honesty but with the exception of Torres, Don Vicente has called up a squad he has been accustomed calling up.
Correct, in fact he is in the best form of his life but in the end, aside from his recent goals, he is painfully average and really does not add anything to his team in any spectrum. This, and that he fails massively against big teams.
I would like more flexibility from VDB.Torres is actually having a better season than Llorente so far, lol. But I would also start Llorente over Torres. Or Soldado as the striker and Llorente as his sub. Torres I wouldn't even call up
Really?
Llorente has 1 goal in 3 games which isn't impressive but the season just started. Plus, you must understand he is under a new manager with a new system as the results of Bilbao tell the whole story. Plus he adds much more to his team then his goals and has done so this year.
Torres has 2 goals in 9 games which is worse then andy carrolls.
In the end, it should be rewarded on recent form and not just on the start of the season as otherwise Ramos does not deserve his call up.spain has a pretty bad depth in defense
Sadly, VDB makes it seem this way by his repetative selection while Espana has more then enough talent in the back in fact.
I agree about Llorente I was just joking. I have a man crush on Llorente and hate Torres cause I hate Chelsea (comes with the territory). But as I said, I wouldnt even bother calling Torres under his current form. Id bring Soldado and Llorente, 2 different trype of strikers who are in better form and both offer different strengths for options. Villa can also still be used as a striker, same with Cesc as a false 9 (ALL better options than Torres)

Re: Spain is the Future
First time I've seen this thread! I spend most of my time on Real Madrid pages.
I thought I was only Spaniard in this forum!!
I have been saying with bias for some time now what this thread is all about. Our youth accomplishments this summer were outstanding. It was only bad luck in our game against Brasil that we didn't also win W under 20 as well. We were clearly the better team.
As to various comments about the senior team, I say not to worry. We're on course to repeat both next Euro and WC which will surely convince everyone what a roll Spain is on.
Silva can have his point of view but the reality iis, it is extremely difficult to be a starter for Spain right now. There is so much competition for most positions it's difficult for anyone to have a sure starter position. Being consistently named to be part of seleccion is an accomplishment as there are much more than 23 quality players available. We have such depth that for all MF and forward positions, there are at least 3 players for every position that are world class not to mention at least 10 more in youth teams that are only a couple of years away from being ready to play on big team.
The weak spot is in defense. We really only have Puyol, Ramos, Arbeloa and Pique. Puyol is on his last legs and has to be replaced soon. There are some others that are being looked at but the answer is we need the maturing of our youth to add to Ramos, Arbeloa and Pique. Guys like Botia and Dominguez, Montegro, Barata need to be ready soon. But in the interim there are enough "others" to support the incumbent "4" through the next Euro.
The competition for this Euro will be Germany and Netherlands and looking forward to next WC, it's Germany and Brasil. I do believe the Olmypics will be ours as well.

If you have some spare time, go look up 'sarcasm' on Wikipedia. Obviously Del Bosque doesnt give a shit about what I say, if we use that logic then why should any of us be posting here? The coaches, players, etc we are talking about dont even know we exist.
Jog it on son.

Xabi has been playing as the ball winner for pretty much two years now with Real Madrid. The man is a beast and honestly if people paid more attention to how he plays now instead of just assuming he is a CM they would know that he's all you really need if you're going to have 65+ possession per game.
Also Xabi hollywood passes + Llorente in the middle and Mata and Silva on the wings = orgasms.

Alonso needs a partner its been proven ( be it Busquets , Mascherano or Khedira etc etc) he cant play the lone DM role by himself and everytime he does his team struggles badly and often loses or draws....
I get that your a Alonso fanboy lol but to expect him to excel in a lone dm role when its been proven he cant is funny and thats being kind.
Nothing against Alonso as a player he just cant excel in the lone dm role infact hes the detriment to the team just like Xavi would be in the same position.
P.S No Enrique no Party.

Agree with Mole
As much as I like Alonso the fact that all of Benitez, VDB, Pellegrini and Mourinho have always partnered him with a DM tells the story.

He wouldn't be playing "lone dm" ffs. This isn't 1996 mole. Spain attack and defend as a team and their best tool for defending is ball possession. Xabi can play alone in midfield if Xavi and Iniesta are there.

Xabi hasn't been "partnered with a DM" since Benitez.
He has been Madrid's deepest midfielder for a while now. Khedira is in charge of bringing the ball forward, being available for Xabi to pass to if he needs him or passing it to Xabi when he has the ball.
Watch A couple of Real Madrid games now and you'll be surprised if you think Alonso does the same things he did in Liverpool.
