2014 World Cup Preliminary Draw (Saturday)

The pot allocations for the Preliminary Draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ were announced today at a media conference involving FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter and FIFA Secretary-General Jerome Valcke at the Marina da Gloria, Rio de Janeiro, the location for Saturday’s event.

The pot allocations are based on July’s FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking which was announced today at 10.00 CET. However, the Asian Zone allocations will only be known following Thursday’s qualifying matches.

The Preliminary Draw begins at 15.00 local time (20.00 CET) on Saturday, with the FIFA Secretary-General acting as the Master of Ceremonies.

During the media conference the dates for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup were announced. The 2013 event will take place between 15 and 30 June, while the FIFA World Cup will be held from 12 June to 13 July 2014.

So the pot allocations were based on a ranking that is quite faulty, and favors teams in SA as a result of their recent tournament? Well done..

Uzbekistan are the biggest bottlers in Asia, they'd probably come second and dominate the final group stage only to choke in the last game or play off and go out. I still can't figure out how they missed out on 2006 qualification...Biggest bottlers out there.

North Korea has turned shit after their WC. Looks as their propaganda campaign didn't go well and Kimmy just gave up. I reckon they'll finish last, Syria are okay-ish at home.

Group A is very weak though ... China for top seed was a poor decision.

ah quiroz, i wonder what happened to him he won 2 youth wc i guess he just one of those guys who is a great coach but not a good manager.

I believe he is eligible to play for England and Jamaica (not sure) as well.

I rate him very highly...Only 21, and IMO one of the best wide players in the league. He isn't a winger though, more like a NZogbia/Adam Johnson type of wide player.
