Re: The " Oriol Romeu " Thread!
You won't get him back, he's ours.
And before you mention cesc, I would like to point out the lack of big name players trying to force there way out of Chelsea since Roman took over.
In all honesty though, I think it's 50/50 whether he stays with us or goes back to Barca over the next 2 years,

Re: The " Oriol Romeu " Thread!
Just thought I would update the Barca fans,
Oriol made his debut today, he came on late into the game and slotted into DM.
He looked strong, made some good tackles but at times looked a bit nervous. Overall, I am happy with it. If he can get rid of the nerves he will do well. I expect to see him playing again sometime in the near future.

For those who are interested Romeu is highly likely to start our game tonight, I imagine he will line up in DM behind McEachran, I am looking forward to it.
The game starts at 7.45pm london time which is about 4.45am thursday morning Sydney time. Not sure what time for the rest of the world but I am sure you can work it out if you want to watch it.

Re: The " Oriol Romeu " Thread!
Very impressive he is such a clean tackler of the ball too, beautiful to watch.
Alot of other young players who show this trait tend to get sloppy and careless as the years go on, the few that manage to keep it go on to become special indeed.
I will watch with great interest how he unfolds.
Barcelona and Spain are producing some phenomenal talents of late.

Hmmm... I've been a bit harsh on him before, but he's a top talent and he's played really well there. Really impressed by his tackling as Crim said. I think the EPL will be good for him where he'll stand out technically with his neat passing.
I'd love to see him return to Barca, but it depends on a lot of things. I'm sure he'd like to come back, but Barca will only bring him back if he's good enough and if he's good enough he'd only really return if he's guaranteed a starting role. There's not really a lot of rotation options at Barca for a DM, its different to Fab who is able to occupy a number of roles. Romeu coming home depends a lot on Busquets. If Busquets drops his form or something, or a new management doesn't like him, maybe Romeu can come home.
I remember reading 2 years ago that he was a blend of Toure and Busquets. Pretty good summary, he's more physical, stronger and maybe faster than Busquets. His tackling also looks like he could surpass Busquets there too. He's not an actor either...

Re: The " Oriol Romeu " Thread!
His defensive side still hasn't been quite tested though. And although most of his passes were not really better than Mikel's, he distributed the ball quicker.
Is there a clause or something saying that he can't go on loan? Because I can see that happening in January if he doesn't impress when Mikel is playing in the AFCON. If he does then it might end up being another story, though I don't expect Villas-Boas to be starting Romeu unless he really, really impresses. Personally I feel he needs to go on loan to a PL club.

Played the full 90 minutes which was surprises and also shows how much trust AVB has in Romeu. The stats are amazing and he will surely be the next Busquests (a shame that Busquests is young).

Re: The " Oriol Romeu " Thread!
He is much more suited to AVB's style than Mikel, a few more good proformences and Mikel will have a hard time getting into the starting XI.
I was very impressed and now see why AVb wanted him at Porto and got him here.
