This was not only reported by Villas-Boas, but in fact the Chelsea official site made an article called 'Our Oriol' in which they said, "In reality, all the Catalan club have is a first-refusal agreement should Chelsea deem Romeu surplus to our requirements." Therefore this is coming out of the club. I hope we get something from the officials at Barcelona, just to clarify.

Sheesh Chelsea fans feeling the Fabregas effect already. Here I am thinking it would take at least a season and a half maybe two. But if he's adapted this rapid to all of you then all I have to say is kudos to him (Romeu). I guess I finally have a reason to watch an EPL game.

The deal includes a buy-back clause of 10 million Euros after a year, rising to 15 after the second year.

i don't think its logical that Barca accepted a 5M offer for Romeu without a buybackoption..

he clearly deserves more than 5M, especially in today's market!

& Rafinha who is considered now a forward.
Plus Romeu.

Chelsea are saying that the club still have the right to refuse to sell Romeu, even if Barcelona are willing to pay the above amounts.

But both clubs are ignoring one decisive aspect in this matter: It's Romeu decision where to play. If he wants to play at Barcelona, then he will go there. If he wants to continue to play at Chelsea, he can refuse to re-sign for Barcelona and stick with Chelsea.

No matter whether there is a genuine buy-back clause in the deal or not, it's all going to be up to Romeu to make the decision of where he wants to play. Not some agreement, because ultimately Romeu will have the final say on any future agreement reached between the clubs.

We cant have them all, we need to sell some. I think that is actually a good step. They can go develop and we can get some money for our debt. Though, 5 mill is a small price for Oriol. If Chelsky dont wanna sell, and more important if he doesnt want to come back, we got this transfer wrong.

Steve Holland then said the contract is essentially a first right of refusal and that this is clearly in the contract and it has been approved by FIFA."

I asked him to confirm it and he said he heard the whole thing, saying it took place today. Don't think he made it up

This is the problem, it was on Chelsea TV and I don't think anyone reported it because it was on the pre-match for a meaningless match. But if he said he saw it then I don't see a reason not to believe it, goes perfectly with what Villas-Boas said anyways. Also nice to Romeu confirm it himself :lol!:

I'm sure he'll be interviewed some time and then he'll make it public.

I would like to make more money from Romeu, but either if we can't buy him back, I don't care to be honest. I knew he would do great at Chelsea, cause he is very Chelseaesque as I said, but he wouldn't cut it with us.
