Wondering why Man U is paying PSG 50+10 for Ugarte... when Ugarte has clearly shown that he cannot handle pressure with the ball at his feet.  He's just an enforcer and a short one at that (not good in the air).  It's baffling.

I suppose you are assessing him from his 1 PSG season. His stock has definitely fallen. Sporting fans used to rate him higher than Palinha during his time with them despite being 6 years younger I have read. Was one of the most sought after DMs when PSG bought him. Might not have worked out in France. But for the system we play under ETH he will suit tbh.

50+10 is standard for a young DM I think that too for a prem club. Amadou Onana went for 50. Their original asking price was 70. They may have further lowered it on the last days of the window considering Enrique had no plan to use him. But I guess we didnt want to leave it that late. Also we sold McTominay and Hannibal for a combined 35+ so, effectively Ugarte is a 20-25 mil deal and is an upgrade.

Normally I'd be happy with this but Chiesa just isnt the same player who lit up the 2020 Euros. It's his ACL to whatever confidence has been lost but I cant see him making a jump to a club like LFC and somehow finding success abroad.

I hope not unless there's a realistic obligation included because its just gonna be us covering 80% of his wages and him getting a year with you where u dont even buy him at the end if he does well, he's on 250K a week at United atm

I'm surprised Pool wanted Chiesa, 15 milli I read? I guess that's a bargain at that price point even if he doesnt work out given the fees ppl go for nowadays

And by the way anyone happy to accept Sterling in their Man UTD squad is deluded. Man is beyond finished as I never rated him highly as it is I cannot see what he will bring to the team.

Sterling is pretty meh now but he's still 5x the player Sancho and Antony are, will be a fine backup if they give us 20m + him for Sancho

the problem is I've read Chelsea owe him something like 60-70M across his contract, he's on 300K a week

Yea the Sterling deal has to be strictly as per our terms and not the player's. The ball is firmly in our court considering there is no other offer for him, yet.

He is kind of finished true, but still is producing numbers better than Antony, Sancho and Rashford. A 2 + 1 year kind of deal on lower wages wont be that bad as we desperately need some experience and goals in our attack especially now that McTominay is also gone. Either way, relaxed about this. If he comes, fair. Doesnt, fair either. And Sancho by the way will have to go. That's priority.

It's definitely an option imo that could probably turn into obligation based on number of appearances I reckon

I don't think it can be an obligation. We can't afford his salary, iirc he would be the highest earner in the team and in a period when the focus is cutting costs.

If it happens it will likely be a loan with United paying most of his salary.

Barcauniversal just quotes other journalists, they are not a source in itself. The source is Fabrice Hawkins and from what I know he is pretty reliable.

We really cant' be picky if it's just a loan for one season until Bernal is fit, Danilo is probably only one of the options and only a loan so not bad. But we dont seem to have any FFP space left anyway.

Ofc he will be. The guy only trembles when plays in the prem. Anywhere else he will light up. That's why its important for us to get a decent enough deal if its a permanent transfer oversees. Instead they are offering a 'dry loan' with half of the wages covered by us which by the way we will accept out of sheer desperation.

JJ just spent €60M on Koopmeiners. We spent more than €100M to revamp our midfield.

Sancho is a luxury signing at this point. That is why we're offering a loan deal at most.

I don't think the transfer fee is the biggest hurdle. It's the salary, the club are trying to reduce salaries or sell high eaners. Sancho with his current deal would break that strategy

The most surprising thing about all of his transfers is the high transfer fees he’s had throughout his career. I wouldn’t have guessed that he’d still be worth 33 million after so many years of being underwhelming.

I dont understand the Lukaku deal when you have Osimhen and nobody wants to take him. Surely at that point you just refuse to get Lukaku and keep playing Osimhen even if he wants to leave.

Chelsea still chasing Sancho for some reason I do not understand. Allegedly they want him on a permanent deal but I'm pretty sure that's some financial fair play shenanigans and we will be forced to take Sterling. Sancho prefers Chelsea, I think I read he supported them when he was a kid.

I still mostly see a dry loan to Juve but I'd like some realistic goals with an obligation.
