Bilbao has a past as big as Barca and Atletico. They have been as big as Juve, Milan and Inter. They certainly have a better record than the likes of Villareal, Sevilla or Betis.

You keep referring to them as a nothing club! They have been slowly building up their talent and financial capability.

They not only resigned Nico, they also did it to retain Unai Simon and Vivian. They want to keep their young talent in order to keep improving and be competitive, as would any good club. What you said about Nico having potential that is beyond what club can offer, could easily be said about Yamal with Barca, the broken down caboose!

First of all, I never referred to Bilbao as a "nothing club". There is something between 'nothing' and 'big'

Second of all, comparing Bilbao with Barca is just nonsense, Bilbao is a mid table club

Historically Bilbao is ahead of Barca! You conveniently overlook past records. I could just as easily say ignore 2002 - 2015, when you had arguble a top academy and the top club in the world. If you exclude these years, Barca is away behind Bilbao.

And Barca is definitely not a big club right now. As much as you and Laporte want to think you are still a big club, take a hard look at your record the last few years.

The only thing Barca has done better than Bilbao is the exit clause value they have set!

The liga historical rankings are not based on championships and as I said, exclude those exceptional Xavi / Iniesta years, you get a very different view.

For a broken caboose, you sure are trying hard to get over your bitterness of not getting Nico that you were so certain was going to happen.

And for the record I am not Basque nor do I support neither Athletic nor La Real.

The balon dor winner is gonna be somebody who normally would be outside top 20 and you think quality hasn’t dropped?

Even the players you mentioned are either past it (Kane), overrated (Bellingham) or inconsistent (Mbappe). The last one is coming off an absolutely embarrassing Euros. Don’t be surprised if he turns out like another Hazard

By the time the balon d'or winner has retired he will have absolutely smashed the assist record in the CL. You don't have to be a 50 goals player to be the best. I'd rather a player who scores 20 goals but them all being important to someone who smashes 50 goals a season and goes hiding in the big games.

If we compare players to Ron/Messi then they'll all seem mediocre but if we compare to other top players minus those two then the quality is about the same with this generation being more clutch.

As for Nico, I agree so far he's just a talent and not amongst the best but it's the price that makes it worth the gamble. We paid 45ME for a 16 yo Rodrygo. 58 ME for a 22 to Nico is an excellent deal given the market EPL have messed up.
