Psg are asking for 70 mil. They basically want to cast him off and still want a profit. Probably want to fund their Neves deal. Should tell them to fk off if that is the case. There must be plenty of pure destroyers who are better than Casemiro who we can get for under 50.

AS is not a reliable source. Even if they have to take out a loan, they've already positioned themselves to activate the clause soon and are waiting for Nico's move. More credible sources are saying it should be finalized within next week

The issue is with Olmo whom they want to sign as well and for whom the funds need to be found somewhere, now there a sale would probably be needed.

Olmo strikes me as a system player, needs a lot of good players around him to tick

Havent seen a lot of Olmo outside of NT tbh. He seems pretty good but injury-prone which is a big issue. I dont think the financial effort is worth it because of his injury record but I'd probably prefer him over Simons

Absolutely not true. I've seen a bit of club Olmo and he always looked like quality, but it seemed that whenever he was close to a real breakout, an injury would devastate him for months.

I watched Olmo fairly often two seasons ago. My impression of him at the time was that he showed that he was capable of brilliant moments, but he didn’t stand out or impress very often throughout the entire season.

He clearly has some talent in him, but if he’s upped his consistency over the past year or so, that’s news to me. International football has a tendency to be quite misleading, in terms of being able to gauge what players are capable of at the club level.

It's not just international performances, Barça maintains an interest in Masia graduates regardless of whether they're truly elite or if they're even needed. Olmo was going to be wanted by Barça the moment he emerged as a decent player on the world stage

I wanna believe this trend (probably) started with Gerard Lopez.

To the younger ones reading and watching, Gerard Lopez was sold to Valencia for a rather humble amount. He then was loaned out, came back and had a really nice season (singular season mind you) at Valencia. Barcelona re-signed him for about 21 million euros which he contributed all but nothing during his 4-5 years at the club. This was back in 1999-2000 season I think.

That was definitely the era when "Masia privilege" led to certain mediocre players being shoehorned into the team. Players like Gerard and Oleguer would not have started for any top team back then.
