Re: MLS-thread
Funny how 75K fans in Atlanta paid tickets to see Messi but he did not show up to avoid playing on turf (yes turf like they use in NFL lol)
My local club also in playoff race i hope we play a sudden death match against Miami and eliminate them, it would be an honor.

Re: MLS-thread
It's good for US football since there are so many tackles a grass pitch would look like a war field.
But turf is a harder surface it raises the risk of injuries if you run on it for 90 minutes. Also the ball bounces differently.
When we signed a very old Drogba the club wanted to play at the olympic stadium (a ruin with turf pitch) for higher attendance but he said no i'm not playing on that shit

Re: MLS-thread
Damn Chicago thumps Messiless Miami 4-1, and playoffs are off. Back to being the worst team in the league. With Messi Miami didn't lose in 12 games and won first ever cup, and without they've lost one final, missed playoffs, drawn twice and lost thrice. Never seen anything like that.

Re: MLS-thread
Just like when Ronaldo is absent for Al Nassr.
But oh wait he's always there for his team even though he's 5 years older than Messi whose golden legs can't play on astroturd

Re: MLS-thread
Probably because the club is 3 years old
Unlike Al Nassr and Al Hilal, top clubs of Saudi Arabia yet they celebrated titles in global indifference until they paid a billion for visibility

What does this have to do with Saudi Arabia, why are you so obsessed?

Re: MLS-thread
Inter Miami more Barca than liga Barca.
Luis Súarez has signed the formal contract as new Inter Miami player! All done and sealed.
— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) December 22, 2023
It will be official soon, all completed on one year deal plus option for further season valid until 2025.
Messi, Suárez, Busquets, Alba back together.
Here we go, confirmed. pic.twitter.com/nweuucCB1A

Re: MLS-thread
Didnt follow it that much apart from watching Messis games highlights Just realize so Inter Miami ended up second last on the table? Wtf? I thought Messi raised their level... how many games did he play? I guess they suck without him playing?

They were on the course of playoffs, but Messi got injured and Miami didn't make it wand also lost the US Cup final without him.

Re: MLS-thread
I know people think Miami are building a super team of former Barca players, but the reality is that I highly doubt this team has the mileage in them to make a deep run to the MLS Cup.
At absolute best, they can try for The CONCACAF Champions Cup and/or the US Open Cup.
This team is way too old for both the Supporter's Shield or the Championship itself and that's even with Messi, who probably won't be able to stay healthy throughout such a grueling season.

Re: MLS-thread
Yeah Miami is not a superteam. Athleticism and work rate count A LOT in football and Miami has basically none of it with these older players.

Re: MLS-thread
I've doubts on Suarez, mostly because he already couldn't hack the last season in Barcelona when he still supposedly had legs. The thing is that Messi needs runners around him, and adding Suarez, if he's not going to move, with Busquets might be too much. But we'll see, basically Miami's success depends on Messi's fitness.

No. It will depend on the midfield, defense and work rate. They were last in the league at both last season MLS. Adding Alba, Busquets, etc isn't going to help that.
The MLS referees will give Messi the glass doll treatment though. So that should make it very easy for him.
That said, MLS is like the second division of a tier 2 league. Such as the second division in Portugal or Holland. So the lack of competition will help.
