Re: The Last of Us (HBO)
Its getting "Universal acclaim" and a lot of reviews border around 9-10.
Last time i was this eager for a show to succeed was another video game adaptation in Witcher to which did not hit the mark,
so far this clearly does.
Very happy to see this. HBO always gets it.

Yup only one mixed review so far (from slate), although it kind of sounds like exactly what I would expect so I think the criticisms are probably valid .
It also sounds like none of them watched the finale, so wonder how effectively they pulled that off.

Pretty good opening episode. the car scene was great, felt intense even though it was already spoiled for me by the game.
Nice intro too btw

What a show.
S3 was pretty amazing. Kept expecting some Walking Dead shit for some reason but it never came. Just a beautiful story told.

S2 just got green lit and you're already on S3...? damn, respecting the source material does wonders doesnt it.

Also I never played this game so staying real to the source material is not a factor for me, simply amazing regardless.

Re: The Last of Us (HBO)
I am hooked.
This is why I usually watch shows only when they end, now I have to wait for a week. Then when the season is over, a year or two. Then it gets canceled or turns to shit.

Still sceptical. The main story is already layed out from the game so you can't mess that up - and the optics look well made, but obviously activists are heavily involved in writing the script (as usual these days in Hollywood) so I don't trust this at all.

What's wrong with activists being involved?

What's not wrong about being treated like an inherently evil viewer that needs non-stop lecturing and enlightment about blackness, gayness, diversity and strong women at every single opportunity in every series or movie in such artificial and glaringly obvious manner?

Re: The Last of Us (HBO)
Is this about the gay stuff in E3?
Because as much as I hate modern activism, it felt nothing like that at all. Those guys were just gay and loved eachother, and that was it. Incredible episode tbh.

You mean the activist who wrote the fucking game and made it a gay story from the very beginning?

If you feel evil watching that... well then... if the shoe fits and all that

Re: The Last of Us (HBO)
Yeah while this may be a cause for concern in some other shows, it doesnt apply at all here. The gay themes are natural and inherent in the TLOU story

Re: The Last of Us (HBO)
Top episode last night. Boomer. Child clicker. The sniper scene. Sam's story.
Epi 3 was better but felt completely separate than the games, whereas this one felt like a fantastic execution of that story.

New episode tonight, can't wait.
Apparently all you need to make good TV is give Pedro Pascal a kid to take care of.

Re: The Last of Us (HBO)
WTF. I didn't even know the Super Ball was now.
I have HBO max, it told me it's tonight.
Also there was an earthquake an hour ago, so I could have been living under a rock
