tbh i dont know about asensio playing cmf or back up cmf for the whole season. against the mallorcas of this world it might work, but i dont know if he himself is prepared for that kind of grind. cos its carlo, i'm willing to watch and see, considering he did the same with di maria, and that was a revelation....but asensio isnt di maria.

as far as old team, its a fair assessment if the coach is only relying on the veterans, which zidane tended to do. if the younger guys are playing important roles, not just when the main guys are out, then thats a good look. but at least in 2 years time we should have phased out the old guard....the camavingas, valverdes et al those guys should not be sitting on the bench in 2 years time

Based on last game (fantastic as it was), Isco is now Midfielder #7, so who cares how well he or for that matter Bale or Hazard perform. At this point, we don’t need any of them!

Wierd lineup! I think it’s a midfield of 4 with Asensio as a 10 and a 3 CBs.

interesting to see how valverde copes in that position. tbh i'm not a big fan of switching players from their normal roles for reasons i dont care to broach right now. i wonder if its a move just to plug the gap and not a long term one, we'll see

Yea. Valverde is wasted at right back.

Casemiro and Modric in midfield is so slow. No energy, no press.

Valverde needs to be moved to midfield in the second half.

Camavinga need to be introduced. Miguel also, switching Nacho to right back.

Also, Asensio had been poor. Hazard please

Well there goes 2 points. we didn't play good at all. what worries me is that we can't press properly. this half ass random pressing will get us nowhere. and man Villareal played so annoying. passing the ball in their own half 90% of the time. bunch of cowards. our weak pressing also helped them.

about players,
Asensio is nothing special. should not start for us.
Vini is still shit in front of the goal. we can't count on him. but this season we have no choice i'm afraid.
Camavinga was bad also.

we need some proper full backs. Nacho is garbage at left back. With Carvajal out ( as always ) we have no right back either.

although this game showed the reality of the team. we are not as good as our results have shown.

we should have lost to Inter and Valencia. but got extremely lucky. good news is Atleti and barca are also sh*t so we can win the league even with this average team.

A few lesson learned here:

- Valverde at RB is wasted
- Nacho at LB is wasted since he's right footed
- Casemiro is being his usual mediocre self to start the season and then he gets going in the 2nd half of seasons.

We need Camavinga and Valverde in midfield to give us movement, speed and athleticism. Modric can be the pace setter.

Asensio is a 1 game wonder. Rodrygo isn't ready.

So here's how i'd go:

Nacho - Militao - Alaba - Mendy
Valverde - Modric - Camavinga
Hazard (yes him) - Benzema - Vini

Although Nacho and Mendy crossing would be brutal lol. But no worse than the other options sadly. Marcelo isn't an option sadly.

Also Casemiro is starting to worry me. he has always been slow but not like this. too many mistakes. also kills the flow of the game with his slow thinking.

he has been terrible this season.

The season now started Mamad, no need for the hyperbole...not yet anyway lol.

I concur with both you and Sports though, Casemiro has started off in what is his usual mediocre early season self but I have a legit worry this may last longer than it usually does.

Anyway, bore draw but Emery has our number. Not the first time he exposed Madrid with his Villareal side.

This draw is all on Carlo. He needs to start putting more faith on Miguel. Maybe even Marcelo, he seriously cant be worse than Nacho at LB.

this are 100% mistake :

1- Playing Vazquez
2- Nacho at LB
3- Starting Aasensio

also I'm not a fan of Vini playing all the time. sub him of at 70th and let Rodrygo play there fresh. i think Rodrygo can play much better at LW compared to RW.

No idea what Carlo is seeing in training but it cannot be so bad that he must insist on using Nacho as a LB.

Good call on Miguel. He's not even as good a defender as Marcelo though. He needs to... i don't know... at least get in the way sometimes. We've given up most of our goals on his side early this season.

THAT SAID, better than Nacho in games where we need to score. Agreed. But not a solution, in his current iteration, for any big games. He'll get eaten alive defensively.

Yeah Miguel is bad at defending but he has something to offer going forward.
Nacho is just useless. i also don't think his defending is good at all. specially one on one.
there are two things that are a must for full backs: 1- being good going forward 2- being good defending one on ones.

The only time Nacho is useful at LB is when we are parking the bus.

What I don't get is playing Nacho at LB and Alaba CB. I mean one of them was a huge success as a LB not too long ago. But this is no longer a debate, Alaba was dominant today at CB and without him and Thibu we would have loss this one

Our RB needs to be situtated next summer. If Carvajal is going to keep getting injured then its time to start shopping. Problem is i dont see much options if at all.
