Counted the goal since it was a self inflicted injury.

Ref should have stopped play before the goal went in but he didn't. Arsenal don't have to stop play either.
Arsenal shouldn't have stopped the play. It was the same action and they correctly.concluded it. Also, the ref would only stop it quickly if it was a concussion.

It's a weird one because usually any injury to the keeper is cause for refs to stop play, but the shot and injury happened so close to one another the ref didn't see it in time.
Maybe an argument could be made for Arsenal to give possession back for sporting reasons but meh, they're not obligated to and it wasn't a serious injury.

My first time watching Arsenal this season. Let's see the improvements Arteta's made.

Even a lot of times, I saw how Chelsea had 5 players on the shoulders of the United back line when the ball was in the midfield. I get how they bombard an opposition fullback with someone always wide but how are they getting away with this? One quick counter and it should be GG for them.
They have 5 players who play on the last line, then they have 5 players who cover their backs. The back 5 are well-spaced out too offensively, with each one covering a vertical zone.

Poor goal for Arsenal to concede. They're doing that thing of withdrawing into their 4-4-2 and not putting enough pressure on the ball. Players need to be braver and keep a high line because they're a much better side when they do and were doing a good job slowing United down.
It's by far the biggest thing holding this team back. Take a lead > become passive > allow the opposition to build pressure until they score.

Same as the last time I saw them. 3-2-4-1 offensively and 4-4-2 defensively. Though I remember he used to play 5-4-1 off the ball.
The profiles are better for the football he wants to play now. The goalie and back 3 are an improvement. Smith Rowe playing in between the lines of Auba makes more sense too.
That being said they look the same to me. They score a shitty goal then sit back deep. There's no control after scoring a goal.

Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
In open play there's not much difference. The build-up is better because Ramsdale, Tomiyasu and White > Leno, Bellerin and Holding in every way, but open play chances are still difficult to come by.
The biggest difference has been set-pieces, which accounts for almost half our goals this season.
They're still a moments team. They'll have periods of 20-30 minutes where they control games with their build-up and pressing, and then follow it with 20-30 minutes when they surrender all initiative for no logical reason, even against so-called weaker teams. It's one thing to be forced back because the opposition are better but it seems to be a deliberate choice by someone at Arsenal, given how frequently it happens.

Shouldn't have lost this game at all.
Stupidity from Odegaard to go to ground, then poor subs from Arteta throwing on all his strikers and going cross n pray. It never works and managers need to stop doing it.

Has anyone been hating on him? I know I've pointed out that his lack of willingness to add to the team pressing is a tactical issue for Man United, who don't have a very tactically flexible team of players, but I don't think many will dispute his individual quality. Unless, you count people who feel like they have to push him down in order to promote Messi.

That’s exactly who I am talking about. I agree with those points. Today he pressed his ass off though. He deserves credit for busting his back end and no one is talking about it

he scored a tap-in and a penalty, he does that every other game, calma he had like one meaningful press near the end of the game
