Chelsea just scored a whole 3 goals today without Lukaku scoring, Jorginho didn't even have one of his best games. I couldn't be bothered with United, they don't have the midfield to last the entire season, and i can't stand their refereeing bias.
Sure lets see the drop off, Klopp has always been shit between Jan to March with every Liverpool squad, assuming you do already see the drop off outside that then okay, something to look forward too.
Looking at your own posts, a whole season Tuchel and a fit LFC squad would have taken that strikerless City to the ropes for the title last season, especially considering LFC averaged 98 points per season until they lost most players through injury. but yeah you make a statement on human biology and lets see how that goes in terms of injuries for the LFC team and not titles.

Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
El Gunner has a point which is valid but a holistic perspective is missing there.
1. Salah has rarely missed games for Liverpool and even when he was missing, Klopp manages to find solutions and win games. 2. I guess it was the CL and EPL winning seasons. In both these seasons, Salah did have a patch of 6 to 9 games where he was not at the top of his usual game and Liverpool managed wo win trophies in both those seasons. 3. On on his worst day, Salah lays assists or acts as a playmaker. 4. Not going to happen in the wildest of dreams, but Liverpool might sign someone in the Jan window ... let's say 0.1% chance which is equal to Salah getting injured or Salah hitting a bad patch of form.
The main issue for Liverpool will be AFCON which is between 9th Jan to 6th Feb. Salah, Mane and Keita will be missing. I guess this could be a bigger blow in terms of Liverpool blowing away the title race compared to Salah alone being missing.
If Klopp is able to rotate squad, somehow keep VVD, Fabinho and whole of Liverpool's midfield intact throughout the season and still 1 or 2 points away from 1st place; Liverpool will be in the title race till the end. Otherwise, I would say Jan onwards Klopp has to prioritize top 4 or some other competition whichever we have a chance to win.

only difference then is that there was a reasonably good argument to be made that Mane was your best player at the time... now? Not so much.Helmer wrote:1. Mane played his best game against Palace in the last few months including the last season. Mane has seen dip in his form and he has slowly started doing everything right again this season but somehow not able to convert his chances.Hopefully he will get to that consistency very soon.

Amazing how Tuchel transformed from being a tactically naive coach into one of the best out there. Great learner.

He cracked the formula. He has his teams build up and have the positional play of a Pep team and they defend like a Mourinho or Simeone team. I think they defend even uglier than those two did. This 5-4-1/5-3-2 is disgusting.

Pretty much. You rarely ever see managers change their philosophy to this extent. Carlo is still playing the same system he did back in the 90s but Tuchel went from believing in free flowing attacking football into becoming the next Sacchi.
This is why Chelsea will probably win the PL with less than 20 goals conceded all season.

Meh. When all is said and done, the best defensive coach out there is Pep, noone else. Tuchel is just a a tee-totaling van Gaal.

The European champions are playing like Burnley at home. You hate to see it.

They are having one of their best pressing displays ever today tbh.
Though Pep's teams defend a little different. It's more based on ball retention, pressing, and dealing with transitions. If you can pin them back they look shaky as rare as pinning them back is.
When it comes to traditional low block defending this Chelsea side is a wall.

And that's the only way you can score against a bus like that. Through deflected flukey goals.

Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
well deserved 1-0
Tuchel playing a 5-3-2 with 4 1/2 proper defenders and the three being Kante-Jorginho-Kovacic, then the concrete wall feet Werner and Lukaku upfront, no wonder they don't create anything and can't get on the ball to save their lives
horrible lineup

Meanwhile United look toothless against Villa. Villa arguably the better team tbh.

I honestly think that adding Lukaku has been detrimental to Chelsea's team play

Villa nick it in the 88th min. Deserved tbh. Lost to them and Young Boys in the dying minutes in the last 2 weeks.
