Re: Timo Werner joins Chelsea FC
Now would be a great time for ES to pop in with his now legendary post of Bundesliga "strikers".
Also, personally, I still think Jovic is a good forward who simply isn't cutting it at Madrid at the moment. I also think Werner would be fine at Chelsea though I cannot wait when he scores for a few games in a row, gets ridiculous amounts of praise and the inevitable back lash when he can't even score in a brothel.

Re: Timo Werner joins Chelsea FC
I liked a lot of things about Jovic this time last year, but i thought he came with a bit of risk being a one hit wonder.
Timo Werner on the other hand now has had 4 quality seasons at Leipzig.
He is also going to a club that is a much better fit.

seriously. I know we just won the league, well officially now.
But when we lost Werner, I was so disappointed. Why they are not spending the money from likes of Sterling, Benteke, Ings is beyond me
Just saw a stat that we were among the lowest spending club before a title winning season in the last decade or so. I do not want us to be one or 2 seasons wonder club so we need to keep strengthening in the right areas.

Yes I can see how Liverpool fans are upset, since its always good to make sure u are good enough to stay top when u r on top, and not let others catch up. So Klopp definitely wanted Werner but the owners didnt approve the money?
On the other hand how is Chelsea able to spend so much money in this economic environment ? If it because they are making up for the ban before? I though Chelsea no longer like to splash cash like they did in the years past.

Re: Timo Werner joins Chelsea FC
We sold Morata and Hazard last summer too, Morata transfer fee basically covers our new signing. Given the transfer ban and the players we sold, we can spend a lot this summer without breaking our balance sheet.

Damn really wanted him at Liverpool. Too bad.
He'll do great in the EPL, I think, should suit his style.
Also WTF is a "carry" in football?

Re: Timo Werner joins Chelsea FC
I know there are question marks surrounding Bundesfodder CF's but Werner has all the conditions needed to succeed at Chelsea.
He's going to be a starter, and the PL is the perfect league for his playing style. A runner who will thrive in the open spaces. He isn't a strict poacher either. His link-up play isn't bad and he's fine coming in from the wings. He's Germany's starting CF and RB's all-time leading goalscorer. If he flops I'm never rating a single Bundesliga CF ever again.

I get the feeling he'll be a far better player in his 2nd season. Same with Havertz.

So this is actually happening apparently.

Doc called it.
I wouldn't rush for judgment until the end of the season, and even then, it could be a coaching problem.

Havertz and Werner are special players but I’m sad that they aren’t being utilized properly. They are being fit in around mount and Abraham, so there’s that.

Dortmund will buy him soon at a reduced price and he will turn out to be a superstar, leading the line for them after Halland leaves for Madrid.

Yeah, he is a pretty bad striker. I can't even so rotten form as by now, he would have fine it or some semblance of it.

Re: Timo Werner joins Chelsea FC
I think like that probably there are many who have either CL medals or even EPL it doesn't matter. He has worst finishing for a top club like Chelsea but he definitely can improve it and he is the German Borini, with all his intelligent movement, creating space for others like he did it for Havertz. But obviously that is not enough.

Re: Timo Werner joins Chelsea FC
His finishing is freaking shite and I doubt it'll improve since he's already 25. Chelsea need to be on the lookout for Kane/Haaland/Lukaku

Re: Timo Werner joins Chelsea FC
I agree his finishing is shit but his overall play is actually really good to me. He was a huge reason Chelsea were able to stretch man city and destabilize their defense. I can see why he plays. There’s more to his game then goals.

Re: Timo Werner joins Chelsea FC
He's a striker so his game is very much about goals. Everything else is just regular traits of forwards (off the ball running, hold up play, drifting wide to pull defenders, etc.).
A striker that doesn't score isn't exactly worth much but we'll see how Chelsea deal with this one. I wonder if they'll keep the faith...
