Here we go again.

The images from the Greek-Turkish border are shocking. Thousands of refugees and migrants crowd in front of rolls of barbed wire. Greek police fire tear gas and do everything possible to prevent them from entering the European Union.

... But Germany in 2020 is not the country it was in 2015. Looking back, Merkel acknowledges there was a "loss of control." The chancellor has since described the open borders that allowed hundreds of thousands of people to pour into the country as a "mistake" that should not be repeated.

Berlin remains firm that the EU's borders are closed.

They'll probably just assimilate into the local populations.

I was talking to a potential seafaring lad the other day and he was telling me that the People of the boat" as I'd call it,you may know it by boatpoeple, are another refugee group in europe who may I quote:

I'm on the same page as Angela Merkel this time. Thats all I'm gonna say, I've matured since last time also wanted to stress I regret some of the stuff I posted back in the day.

Merkel has to say that as her party would be dead if she said anything else. In 2013 CDU got 42 % of the votes. Right now they are polling around 25 - 27 % (tendency sinking) with right-wing AfD at around 15 %. She is on a tight rope when it comes to the topic of migration/refugees.

"Those who seek to test Europe's unity will be disappointed. We will hold the line and our unity will prevail," von der Leyen said, standing alongside Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the chiefs of the European Council and European Parliament.

Von der Leyen said the bloc would provide 700 million euros ($777m), half of it immediately, to help manage the refugee situation.

In addition, the EU border agency Frontex will deploy a rapid intervention team including an additional 100 guards backed by coastal patrol vessels, helicopters and vehicles, she said.

"Our first priority is making sure that order is maintained at the Greek external border, which is also the European border," von der Leyen told journalists.

They're intentionally herded towards the Polish border by the Belarus authorities because the EU called the recent election there fraudulent - fucking cynical, and depressing.

After air-pirating that RyanAir flight and the fake election now this - the EU must find a forceful answer to Belarus.
And also, we must help Poland with this. It can't be that after the Syrian refugee crisis we haven't learned.

Honestly, that's one aspect where I've always been ashamed of the way Germany has acted in international politics. All the while Merkel was virtue-signaling the Syrians that 'refugees are welcome' here, Germany has pushed the narrative for decades that refugees, asylum seekers and migrants are the "problem" of the country they first step in when they enter EU soil - knowing full well that Germany has no non-European border except with fucking Switzerland.

If anything needs a unified European response, it is helping those refugees, helping Poland with managing the refugees, protecting the Polish border from Belarus aggression, and punishing Belarus (well, their leadership).
Probably just gonna do some big nothings instead, though.

But this is not the case here. These people have been misled and purposefully brought here to be used as a political tool. They were told they'd get to Germany easily but they were never gonna. Belarusians are basically toying with them, with the intent to destabilize the region and EU/NATO border
