Villa signing Buendia highlights our administrative incapability. Its not that Villa are madrid or have champions league to offer so the player turned us down. It was just a matter of identifing the target, placing the bid and get things done. We were not able to decide if we want the player or not, may be we will wait for odegaard until the last day of the window when madrid deny our request and arteta and Edu deem Willock as a new signing.

The story on Buendia is Arsenal made a 30m bid, offered a lower salary than Villa and decided he wasn't worth what Villa ended up paying. Villa will pay £38m plus a sell-on clause.

Basically, Villa wanted him more and paid up. Arsenal decided he wasn't worth that and pulled out. It's not the end of the world. There are other players out there.

Neves basically replaces Xhaka. Similar profiles, just with Neves less prone to errors. I see no reason why him and Bissouma (or someone of his profile) can't be signed if the money's there. We need two new CMs at least regardless.

A stronger defence will help us play more aggressively in possession.

White and Lokonga look the most likely deals at the moment. Odegaard seems to be a no-go so I don't know what the plan for that position is. Smith Rowe still hasn't signed a new contract and Villa are legit interested so I'm concerned something's up there.

Mavropanos is going to Stuttgart on a permanent, Guendouzi to Marseille, Xhaka to Roma, Kolasinac to Lazio or Napoli, Torreira to somewhere and Nketiah's up for sale as well. Altogether these sales could raise 60-70m which would basically pay for White and Lokonga.

Signing an English (homegrown) player should be up on the agenda. If Arteta is planning to play a back 3 then this signing makes absolute sense. If we are to play a back 4 then one of the existing CB's need to free up a squad sapce.

Absolutely agree with this. I want Ben White too because we have shit CBs other than Gabriel and even he was shaky in the 2nd half of the season. White ticks all the boxes and i hope we do land him.

Lokonga is a smart deal. Never seen him play but it's obvious we can't get 50m WC mids in so might as well get 10-20m ones in to build.

i'll be honest i'm a regular premier league watcher and i've never noticed or heard of Ben White (which may be a good thing for a defender) until this rumour with an insane price tag

and blowing that much on a CB knowing how tame we always are in the transfer doesn't really inspire confidence for getting other good players in other roles that we lack in.

Needless to say i have no idea who Lokonga is.
