I suspect TLOU will be a few months before on PS4 and launch on PS5.
Nah i don't think it's THAT far. They won't release the details if it's more than a year away.
There is not much money in releasing it on PS4 and then wait for months before releasing it on PS5. bit like TLOU remastered since everyone played it on PS3 anyways.
Let's see either way

Re: PlayStation 5
The reason it will release on ps4, is the same reason that Cyperpunk, Ghost of Tsushima and maybe even Death Stranding will.
There's like 100m PS4s lol, the PS5 install base will be very small to start with which is why cross gen is likely.
The Last of Us was on ps3 in June and they released the ps4 like 5 months later, I'm expecting similar here tbh.

Re: PlayStation 5
As for the actual release of the PS5 I'm just holding onto past consoles and thinking they'll do the same. They could release outside of the usual Holiday slate i suppose but it would be unusual.
I genuinely think the reason they announced it this early is because they found out Microsoft was going to reveal it at E3 and now their showing won't be as impressive.
You can bet they wanted to brag about having a SSD and ray tracing etc and because Sony got their first its no longer a particularly impressive reveal.
It's very smart tbf to them.

Re: PlayStation 5
Impressive hardware, but will be expensive, imo.
I'd be surprised if it took that long, PS4 hardware is already holding some new games back.

Re: PlayStation 5
I'm not feeling hyped about this at all tbh. I'm not convinced there's going to be a big enough leap in graphics and performances from PS4 to PS5 to justify the money it's going to cost and think there's plenty of mileage left in the PS4.
I'm going to have to get one eventually but as someone who only really plays niche and obscure stuff and doesn't care for the triple A selection, I'm more than happy with my PS4.

What he means is that because install bases take a while to build they'll be games on both.
It's pretty standard stuff really as it happens every generation, for example PS4 released 2013 and we didn't get big time buy the console for this game stuff until the first half of 2015.

Re: PlayStation 5
Well they announced ps3 at £599 iirc lol. They won't make the same mistake.
At best it's lower 400 range. At worst it's £449. No more than that i think.

Re: PlayStation 5
Yeah 450 seems plausible, also I'm interested to see what sort of trade ins we'll see.
If there's backwards compat there's probably no reason to keep my PS4.

I'm not a huge gamer so I had no idea that backwards compatibility wasn't a standard thing. I only realized when my PS4 didn't play my old PS3 game...

Can't complain about more Sony exclusives. I hope, at least, some of them are good/great and not a bunch of 2D retro platformers a.la. Xbox "World premiere" studios.

Re: PlayStation 5
It's official: PlayStation 5 will be released at the end of 2020
- Official name is PlayStation 5
- Ray tracing support is hardware based
- New SSD will help boot times, loading times and streaming
- Controller has now adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, new speakers, USB Type-C
- Wired also confirms that the PlayStation 5 devkit is real and that developers already have access to both the devkit and the new controller
Bluepoint teases PS5 project:
"We're working on a big one right now," says Marco Thrush, president of Bluepoint Games, which most recently worked on last year's PS4 remake of Shadow of the Colossus.
"I'll let you figure out the rest."
New DualShock 5 features in detail
Some more minor details on the new DualShock 5 controller from the Wired article:
- better battery
- heavier than DualShock 4, but lighter than a XBO controller with batteries in it
- haptic feedback could have been included in the PS4 Pro but they decided against it
Wired also seems to speculate that game installs will be more modular and that you can choose which parts to install/uninstall (SP/MP/both)
They also mention a "completey revamped user interface" that allows you to join multiplayer activities instantly from the OS for example

USB Type C ffs. Day 1.
So we can expect a quiet year for gaming? I imagine E3 will be good though.

Nah TLOU, Cyberpunk, FF7 remake and Elden Ring alone will mean 2020 is anything but quiet.

Do they all have release dates? Would be terrible if half of them are PS5 launch titles

Re: PlayStation 5
A quiet year? We’re getting a shit ton of big releases next year. Quarter one is a stacked period with Warriors Orochi 4, TLoU Part 2, FF7 remake, Cyberpunk 2077, Watch Dogs Legion and Doom Eternal. I’m not a fan of all of those games, but that’s a lot of early, big titles for that year. There’s also Marvel Avengers in May, and I’m sure there will be more releases that are yet to be announced.

Re: PlayStation 5
Reckon Ghosts of Tsushima will release AUg/Sept next year, or maybe it'll be a cross-gen launch title for PS5, either way, don't see any non cross-gen exclusives until 2022, like I said earlier in the thread.
I'd like to say I've learned my lesson with buying the PS4 close to launch and having nothing great until over a year later (BB) but I'll likely get this day 1.
