Both choices lead to fighting it. The thing bites Baron and then frees itself.

You have to calm it with Axii.

You'll fight Wraiths on the way back.

Where do you get saltpetre in Velen. Me needs some bombs.

Hard to find in early game

The sooner you leave Velen, the better Salpeter can be found pretty much anywhere later in the game.

Mahn am just not doing good in this game. I am poor, somehow ended up selling silver sword (I was drunk irl in my defence) I have no bombs and every half decent monster is beating shit outta me. Worst thing is I have absolutely no money to buy a silver sword or any other armour.

I am sure you are doing something wrong. You can't be broke.

So life's been good for couple of days. At start of the game I was weak and broke and without a silver sword so any half decent monster would bitch slap me. Couldn't complete some quests due to aforementioned reasons. But things got changed for better when I found two silver swords Moonblade and Maugrim on the same day. Also found salt Peter in Velen so created grapeshot bomb, not really impressed but good nonetheless.
What I am really enjoying is roaming around and looking out for side quests and completing them. Really impressed by the amount of side quests I have completed in mere 25 hrs of my play time. Completely forgot about the main quests lol such is the quality of side quests. Planning to invest more 25 hrs in Velen and then travel to Novigard.

Also game giving me 32 lvl monster contract while I struggle against lvl 12 scrub hog.

I don’t remember, but I’m sure there’s a potion, weapon oil or trap that works well against him. Make sure to use the right type of sword against the right type of creature, by the way.

Right, bomb. Not sure why I called it potion. It’s been so long since the last time I played this game.

Good point might as well go ahead and discuss it openly. The stories in these side quests are so tightly written and haunting ffs. Absolutely loving this world.

The side quests are easily one of the very best things about the game. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that some of them are better written than many main stories that entire games are based around. Then there’s the sound design and immersive atmosphere that bring those quests to life and make them stand out from one another. Brilliant design.

Powered the fuck up and went to White Orchards for lulz. Going to smash them lvl 2 monsters with OP af armour and swords not even ashamed
