Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
Felt like a Zidane team after the players got tired.
Once Vazquez was subbed on I got ‘Nam flashbacks

Eagerly looking forward to the total football Madrid are going to play under Lopetegui that the incompetent Zidane couldn't while I'll also be keeping a close eye on the trophy count come the end of the season

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
You can't really blame Lopetegui for anything, really. He tried to get the best out of the players he has, but ultimately Atlético were better and deserved to win.
I would love to see how Zidane would've done tonight without Ronaldo to bail him out.
Let's just hope that the board took notes and will get off their cheap asses to do something before the transfer window slams shut.

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
So if Numptytegui orders his players to pass out from the back, but they're not good enough to do that, leading to conceding the ball in the box and a goal, the coach has no responsibility?

There is a difference in passing out of the back and doing whatever Ramos did on goal 3.
Also doubt he instructed Marcelo to be a melt on goal 2

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
Of course Varane and Ramos are good enough to pass out the box, they have done it during the very same match. What no coach can do is stop Ramos and Marcelo from being plebs.

nope didn't feel like a zidane team. a zidane team has never lost a cup final, they battle in such circumstances...albeit even a "super" cup. anyway the season kicks off on sunday, looking forward to that

A Zidane team has lost the league in September though. And we looked like those teams after we started subbing.

I still don't get why this nobody gets this much benefit of the doubt from the same fans who wanted a club legend fired less than 3 months into his second season.

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
because he does 'tactics'
My mate tells me that Madrid have not looked this open and prone to counter attacks since Juande Ramos was in charge
Sacked by Christmas probably.

Can't believe Madrid and Barca went from the likes of Pep and Ancelotti to Valverde and Lopetegui.

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
they are good coaches, but both teams are going through transitions with key players getting older. it's quite funny to think the new coach would have everything figured out by October, season started a month or so ago lol

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
He isn't figuring anything out until you sign an elite DM and a ST.
You have 5 players who are all exactly the same. Everyone wants the ball to their feet. No one wants to score other than Bale.
At least with barca they have the right players. Valverde is just shit.

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
There's a big difference between having everything figured out, and failing to win any big games except vs a Roma in total disarray. Madrid still has more quality than almost any team out there, and this team has been together for so long so it's not like there is no chemistry.
Its to bring Mou home.

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
The thing I still cannot believe is that Madrid sold their biggest star in the summer and didn't sign anything but bench players - to a team that needed new stars anyway.

Re: Julen Numptegui Suicide Watch
We have Bale, he is a bonafide star. the other stars we wanted were not available, so we are playing the waiting game. it's not that hard to understand.
this team has to learn to score goals without relying on CR which is a big ask because they have been feeding him for 8 years straight.
We created chances today and if we had scored and won, then it would be been the same. This team needs time lol. If by february or march there are no improvements, then it's a problem. but we are in October lol.

If we bring Mou back, I'll stop watching Madrid until he leaves. I can't do that to myself.

Mou's true home is in Stoke City, he just won't admit it. I don't know what sounds more damning between Julen Lopetegui's "double sack watch" and Mou breaking his restraining order to return and cause even more pain and suffering to a now Ronaldo- less Real Madrid.
