Napoli is commiting suicide
Departures:
-Insinge
-Mertens
-Koulibaly
-Fabian Ruiz (heading to PSG now)
-Ospina
They're having a mass exodus of key players this summer, and i don't foresee Osimhen staying past next summer.
7th place finish on the cards

Re: Napoli is commiting suicide
yeah I asked in the calcio thread about them, seem destined for a period of obscurity
I know a lot of those lads are aging but seems mad to let them all go, they in dire financial straits?
read they offered Mertens a contract but it was too low for him so he didnt accept

Re: Napoli is commiting suicide
I mean a lot of them are past their prime, if you dont offload them now, when?
But yeah will be tough to rebuild to that level of quality and probably will be a mid table team for a bit

Re: Napoli is commiting suicide
Can’t they just bring in that Italian manager that Rincon and Lord Spencer mentioned who supposedly upgrades mediocre players and teams?

Not all at the same time. It's more than that, it's the players that were uncomfortable for ADL.
Even Mertens, who is more past-it, was still useful and a huge legend in Naples. Napli will not be able to replace them for a while. They are out of top-4 contention imo.

Kvaratskelia > Insigne
Raspadori > Mertens (in 2022)
Kim < Koulibaly
+ Ndombele
Massively improved

I wouldn't count on Ndombele to improve anything at this point. Dude has an A classer loser mentality.

Only Raspadori is an immediate improvement and still Mertens was a good player to have around.

Re: Napoli is commiting suicide
Saying Napoli has improved is a bad if not overly-optimistic take.
Could not be further from the truth even if its young players who have taken the mantle.

Re: Napoli is commiting suicide
Yeah it's too early to say anything about Kvaratskhelia (or however that is spelled), particularly as someone taking over Insigne. Lozano was supposed to be that guy and isn't, now let's wait and see if Kvaratskhelia is.
Koulibaly is irreplaceable.
They still have a good squad and Napoli is great at building sensible squads as well, the players will fit Spalletti's tactics.
Still, if the mercato closes with the rumored moves happening, Inter, Milan, Juve, and Roma stay ahead.

Re: Napoli is commiting suicide
Verona's defense is atrocious, it helps
Napoli management (whose boss is Cristiano Giuntoli ? never heard of, had to google) has proved to be competent in scouting and they usually maintain a certain standard of quality. However their current squad don't seem that good to me, Juve and Roma have improved, Inter and Milan are better, i think Napoli are playing Europa spots this season which is not that big of a deal, just a transition.

Re: Napoli is commiting suicide
Insigne was finished. Kvara is easily better
Mertens is ultra-finished. Raspadori is better.
Koulibaly is semi- finished ( looking at Leeds-Chelsea). Kim (he's good really) is probably better.
Fabian Ruiz is better than Ndombele.... but I think Fabian stays
They've improved and they made a really intelligent market. They are rarely wrong on it.

I was told that they've signed Leo Østigård, who's a promising, young, Norwegian defender. I thought I'd be able to watch him in action today, but he doesn't seem to be in their starting lineup. Must be painful to watch his team likely beat liverpool in the Champions League from the sidelines

I'd say he 's a definite role unlike of Raspadori.
Simeone is clearly a N.9, legit back-up, not more, anyway I admitt he looks better than he seemed.
Raspadori is a sort of hybrid, not really a SS but not really a CF, imo he should be developed as CF but no managers never insisted to do it and his growth risks to be stopped

Taking his chances as striker for Napoli and Italy. 6th goal in a month.
Indeed this thread was prophetic, Napoli is playing like a machine.
