Let's be fair. There's no way we can get a RB of Bellerin's quality without being able to spend money. We won't even be able to get a decent RB better than Lichtsteiner currently without money.
This is Maitland-Niles' time to shine.

We have never really had poor RBs though and we've never spent good money on them. The former regime under Wenger had a great track record of finding good fullbacks. It has historically proven to be possible...but that said, I agree we may need to rely on Niles. I have no clue if the new regime (especially without Mislintat) has any ability to find the type of gem we would need.
The biggest problem here is that we've just let this amazing scout go when we were trying to be a team that relied on scouts to unearth hidden gems. If you have that low cost strategy and then let your best scout leave, you are left with your pants down. This new leadership team has done a horrible job since Gazidis left. We had all of our ducks in a row and were exactly where we needed to be to progress, and over a few months everything has been disrupted back to square 1.

Frannie Cagigao is likely to step up to fill the scouting void of Mislintat according to the Mail. pic.twitter.com/mntfz9pqrG

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
"Good money" is all relative, though. Sagna was a great find but in 2007 the money we paid for him was actually quite a lot. To buy a "Sagna" these days you need to shell out 20m+, especially now that the position has become more important than ever. Clubs have realised how valuable full backs are, hence the likes of Kyle Walker commanding fees of £50m.
The only way those prices go down is if you capitalise on an opportunity. Like Liverpool getting Robertson from Hull after Hull went down. Those opportunities don't exist mid-season.
Fact is, we can't even afford £20m for Denis Suarez at the moment. No chance we're getting a full back on top of that. Emery knows this, so he's going to big up the options he has available to him right now.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
So the new combo could be Cagigao in Sven role and Mochi as DOF. Former has 10 years working for us, spotting several gems, mostly Barca connected. Later needs no introduction with perk of working successfully with our current manager before, although Roma fans seem pissed at him for what he has done there.
If this goes through, I expect Arsenal turn to playground of ex Barca youth & loads of youngsters around the world.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ornstein: As per @DaveHytner Bellerín ruptured ACL confirmed in scan today, 6-9 months. Rest of squad were paintballing pre #MUFC. Francis Cagigao tipped by many to succeed Mislintat as HoR with Monchi among names for TD (no timescale). #AFC want 2 loan deals, 1 being Suarez but not close
So, about Monchi. I'm very familiar with how he does thing from his time at Sevilla and what people have to remember is that his success was built on over a decade of work. It's not as simple as taking a DoF figure from somewhere and dumping him into a new team. They have to establish connections and networks at their new clubs. And as we just discovered with Mislintat, they have to be on the same page with everyone to work.
Monchi did some exceptional deals at Sevilla, but his record wasn't spotless. People won't remember the the likes of Baba and Rusescu because he signed Negredo. You won't remember Trachowski becuase he got Rakitic for peanuts. He had that freedom to make risky purchases because the pressure at Sevilla was never that high.
It's a whole different story when you go to Roma or Arsenal, clubs that have bigger fanbases with bigger expectations.
As for the other loan signing, there have been links with Gelson Martins at Atletico, since he's been a flop there so far and Atleti need to get rid of a few players to fund the Morata deal.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Instead of Gazidis and his buddies, we now have Raul and his buddies at the head of the club. Raul will trust Monchi and Emery the same way Gazidis trusted Wenger, no matter the results.
Nothing has really changed, we all thought the club has moved on from this type of management into something more resembling a modern club but it's all the same, just with different people.

I wouldnt jump the gun just yet, ppls has their circle just like Pep or Klopp bringing their favorite wherever they go. We will see how it turns out football wise, they got their ways now they need results to back it up.
As for Martins rumor, playing as winger for Atletico Madrid might be one of he hardest jobs on earth.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Independent: #AFC could allow Ramsey to join Juve in Jan for £10m if they can manage to sign Denis Suarez and James Rodriguez this window. Elneny could leave the club with Leicester and Southampton interested.
James is just Ozil 2.0 with better shooting, isn't he? Don't see how he solves anything (or how the deal could even happen).

There's little that makes sense about this club, it wouldn't surprise me at all if that is true.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Save cash and go for Maddison in the summer instead
would much rather keep Ramsey until the end of the season but if he wanst to leave now then let him go

Honestly, with the way this window is shaping up with incomings, I would consider a dramatic Ramsey u-turn to stay here the best possible outcome. I don't see how we're improving ourselves with any of the changes happening. It seems like restructuring for the sake of restructuring.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
James is on some outrageous wage, no way we could afford given how we have tried to rid off all high earners in the club. Denis will come with Elneny level of wage.

We are redoing the wage structure, it’s not about improvement. All Ramsey and Ozil replacements we linked with sofar are downgrades, it’s just to free wage bill and prepare to bring more next summer.

So Madrid got rid of Ozil to get James in.
Arsenal are getting rid of Ozil....to get James in?
seems legit

The negotiations between Barça and Arsenal for Denis Suárez have broken. The player has already informed the coach that he is staying until at least the end of the season. [md] pic.twitter.com/7cTuKq2VIa

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Apparently things have broken down over the mandatory fee Barca are demanding. Suarez also doesn't want to sign the one-year contract extension that Barca want him to to protect his value.
