Re: General Games Discussion
After Cyberpunk I've decided I'm in the mood to play some FPS ( even if it's more RPG than shooter) gonna buy Titanfall 2 as it's 12 quid on PSN atm

The first playthrough isn’t all that great, so it’s not one of those games that I would necessarily recommend to anyone, unless I think they have the patience to push through to the good part of the game.
Okay that makes sense. And how long does one playthrough take?

First playthrough takes about 15-20 hours, if I remember correctly. Then, another 20 hours for the second playthrough. It's once you finish it the second time, that the game suddenly does a complete 180 from having a shallow, cliché of a story, to becoming deep, intelligent, philosophical and

Re: General Games Discussion
Well if it does become a deep intelligent and philosophical game then I won't really mind playing it since I am into that.
I think i can manage 3 playthroughs. It's not about patience to me since I have played multiple playthroughs of very mediocre games in the past.
I'll definitely give it a go just to see the hype/controversy

Put simply, NieR: Automata is the greatest game ever made. It’s not just that it is the deepest and most narratively potent game ever developed - and it is a truly deep narrative experience - but more than that, Yoko Taro has finally found perhaps the developer on the planet capable of doing his visionary work justice. This game is a true, genuine work of art, and anyone who wants to prove that gaming does possess an equivalent to the greatest novels, operas, theatre plays, or paintings, now has that very game to point to. Yoko Taro is gaming’s Shakespeare, Da Vinci, and Welles, all rolled into one.
The first playthrough really is a bit... tacky and lame, mostly story-wise. To me, it seemed hastily put together, and the "main villains" are the lamest thing in the game, in my opinion. I'm not so sure I agree with this reviewer's sensationalist description of the game, but I'll never get over the fact that I went from being moderately disappointed in Nier: Automata, to genuinely appreciating and becoming immersed in the complex story and world, all in the matter of a few hours. The game director, Yoko Taro is known for being an eccentric genius, similarly to Hideo Kojima, so in hindsight I suppose I should've seen it coming.

Re: General Games Discussion
Did it really take you that long Thimmy? First playthrough took me about 10-12 hours, I must have ignored more side quests than I realised.

Yeah, but I did every single side quest... which really wasn't necessary. Only a few of them give you rewards that are worth the hassle, and you can get those rewards as random drops as well - albeit, at a relatively low drop rate. Rare and useful items seemed to drop more frequently the more I progressed in the game. I'm not sure whether or not that was a coincidence.

Re: General Games Discussion
Well, I don't really remember the exact amount of time I spent on each playthrough. HowLongToBeat said the average was about 20 for the main story, and I wasn't sure whether that meant a single playthrough or the first two, or all 4-5. But yeah, I'm pretty certain that I did every single side quest, collected the vast majority of the weapons, and collected the materials required to upgrade them at the "hidden" blacksmith.

no idea why he does it either lol. Buys and plays for a month and give it to me.
But tbh i will actually play it more than switch. Nothing on switch interests me. But I want to play Chrono trigger, fire emblem, FF5 on snes so i will get those if they are available

Re: General Games Discussion
Playing Titanfall 2 atm.
Aye really good so far, movement feels amazing as does the shooting in general and the mech gameplay is good too. My only criticism of the little i've played is the AI seems a bit dumb but that maybe a difficulty thing.
I feel sorry for doubting Jonathan back in the day tbh, first Metro and now this The lad has never steered me wrong
