Re: Next manager
Let's not destroy some potential candidates we hold dear to our hearts before they even have a chance. So no Guti, no Raul, no Alonso.
Thinking of it this way: we have a massive rebuild on our hands (obviously), who is the only candidate with a proven rebuilding track record? Jardim. He has been doing it about every other season for years now.
He may have his drawbacks, but get him in. Gut what isn't working- Benz, Modric, Bale. And bring in a host of fresh blood because if this clasico wasn't enough evidence of us needing new players- I don't know what is.

Jardim or Conte... they'll put proper organization in the team.

The worry I have is someone will come in- we will get the new manager bump and start to play better. Then Perez will see this as another excuse not to invest in the team in January.

We'll invest... we'll pay 40-50 mil for some South American kids between the ages of 14-18. Maybe four or five of them

Because you think there's a slight chance he might invest in the team in January? No way in hell. That cheap-ass president is doing a great job destroying his own legacy.

Yep and we'll call them: Next Messi, Next Neymar and Next Ronaldo.
People are just so impatient. We know what we're doing. The key is to spend sensibly on unproven kids, send them to Castilla and stick in the meantime to the washed-up players we have. Life is good.

Re: Next manager
Say what you will about Conte, but he is a smart guy. I don't think he signs on the dotted line unless he is given some assurances of investing.
Jardim and Lowe would probably jump at the contract regardless.

Flo's legacy is set. Unless we get relegated, nothing will change that.
It doesn't mean he can't be a numpty at times. Plenty of times actually.

this is exactly what florentino wants, and frankly, this is exactly what he needs. there may be a bit of cash (which should have been spent in the summer), now if he has to spend in jan. (very hard to find someone very good), he'll also have to spend in the summer, and a lot too. so he's just hoping for someone who can stare the ship right now. that money we were saving we'll now have to blow it up....hopefully we've learned our lesson, but this is madrid, we love doing things the hard way...lol we'll promote some new castilla recruits next summer

Re: Next manager
So Solari as the interim manager... Madrid has two weeks to either make him permanent or find another option.
I hope we find common ground with Conte (unlikely).

Yeah but that will never happen... Mourinho is the only one who was able to get that kind of power and he was the best manager in the world at the time.

Yes there is no way he will decide who we sign but that was never the case in any of his previous clubs so why ask for it? It just needs to be made clear that if he wants a new player club needs to act.

Re: Next manager
I think making Solari interim manager is actually a good call, as long as it doesn't become permanent.
It is a double whammy- take Solari away from Castilla- very far, and give more time to negotiate with Conte, and hopefully the likes of Jardim.
Have they announced who will take over Castilla? I wonder if we will try to get Guti back. Could be Raul or Xabi, I suppose, but they are a little green for me. Or I guess they might also elect an interim and wait to see if Solari moves on.

Well, at least Solari has a cool name and a handsome face, so he'll do.

Re: Next manager
it is for reasons like this i have maintained we are not a club to develop kids. haphazard change isn't a prerequisite to develop youngsters , if that's what one is going for. whilst i felt it unreasonable to fire him this early, i totally get it, and as a madrid fan, you tend to be a bit numb when it comes to sacking coaches
i like the solari move, as its only a stop gap, and it gives time for whoever wants this job to actually do their homework and know what it is they want. pretty much start from scratch.
any self respecting manager won't have taken this job at this stage (that's no disrespect to guys like del bosque, lopez caro, zidane solari, remon, who were all already working for the club in one capacity or another as caretakers or youth coaches)

Re: Next manager
If they aren’t careful, the club could be out of CL, a first ever or is it years. I honestly can’t remember if thst ever happened before. If we go by Castilla results, Solari has no better chance than Lopetequi did.
And the longer Solari stays the more difficult it will be for Conte, or whoever will be the third sacking this season!

Re: Next manager
solari is a stop-gap, i don't think he is a long term deal....i certainly hope not. nothing against him, but going forward with the rebuilding process, its helpful to have someone who knows what he wants as far as players and building a new outfit

Re: Next manager
Tito, that’s my point. Solari will be sacked, but when. The new guy; who knows how far off 4th place will they be, will they bring in much in January and how much can he improve team in second half?
A finish outside of CL positions is a possibility IMO and Flo being Flo will sack him as well!

Solari is the gamble like ZZ was. If we start winning, Solari might stay on like ZZ did.
The clubs farewell statement was very petty. They might want to look in the mirror. We USED to have great players, half have now overstayed their welcome. Modric is 34 ffs, the club was happy to push Pepe out at that age despite being at the top of his game but nope not Modric.
I hope Solari has the guts to do the right thing. What's the loss? He's an interim coach anyways
3/4 of our defenders are injured

Re: Next manager
Modric is still so good tho
Casemiro in the past couple games has been terrible. Maybe it was Lopetegui and his tactics. But he was pushing forward way too much and abandoning what he does best. Defend and break up play.
Bale is not dependable. Fitness issues aside. He is not dependable on the pitch. He contributes so little in build up play. He needs to just play on the left - run the left touch line and make crosses.
Benzema has looked good this season. That being said he was terrible in the last few seasons. so any improvement will look great.
Asensio has disappointed in the last few games. I realize what hala has been saying now. Asensio needs to become a more aggressive and give his all on the pitch.
Ramos is just a terrible defender. He made pique look world class, comparatively, on Sunday.

Jardim was a beast with Monaco. Calling him an overachiever would be an understatement.
I only have one problem with him: the fact that he allowed Monaco to walk all over him. He's definitely a yes-man in that regard. He works with whatever he has at his disposal and doesn't mind having his best players sold.
He's an amazing manager but he doesn't have a strong-enough character to stand up to his superiors when they're alienating his squad.
What Madrid needs right now is someone with an iron fist. Someone who makes clear from day one that his squad is not to be messed with and that his targets must be brought otherwise he'll not come.
Jardim would be eaten alive by Florentino.
