It's not like contract length matters for Madrid managers, he might've signed for 3 years but could easily be sacked in 3 months.

I've seen some conflicting reports on that. Some say it is 1 year with an option for an additional year, some say 2020, and some say 2021. Who knows.

Re: Next manager
The club knows what the players need. Like ZZ Solari will sit back and watch the players pick themselves up. It's in his first full season we'll have to see some tactical ideas. I am not a fan of coaches brimming with ideas because they never last long.
I can already predict Solari's CL line up from his first 4 games. He is pragmatic like ZZ was. That will take us far in CL imo. And now Barca's defending has dropped to our level of bad so we might be able to compete for the league. It's the Copa I am not sure about, will he play the 1st teamers or mix it up.
So far so good anyways. I wish him the best of luck. Thr players have got their smiles back and our n9 plays like a n9. Even saw some improvements from Modric. Now just Varane, Isco, Bale and Asensio left to get their confidence back and we'll be much better.
In the summer we need to let some players leave and start to rebuild, time to say a sad farewell to Modric and thank him for all the happy memories. Marcelo needs to start taking a reduced role and let Reguillon play himself to a starter role and Bale should move back to the league that made him happy. Even Ramos needs to take fewer mins but who has similar leadership skills as him, that's what we are going to miss the most
If we persist with the older players we are going to continue to get worse to the point we'll have to do a complete overhaul in one summer. We can't affors to do that

Have a feeling that the club doesn't impose enough on players to make them feel responsible and even on edge, embarassing that this club now has reputation that you basically need a troubled youth therapist for a coach.

Quite worried if Man U make a move for Poch. He seems to be their top target, and seem to be willing to pay the release clause we were not willing to last summer.
If we are unable to secure Poch, I really don't know who we would go for. I am not really seeing any viable options that would fit with the club.

Re: Next manager
In recent years, and particularly in the last couple years, I have seen enough bad decisions and BS that made me feel really sorry for the club and hate the current board with a passion.
Madrid is no longer being run as an elite club and it shows through their unambitious transfers. However, I have always kept faith that somewhere down the road Florentino would wake up and realize his mistake and quickly turn back.
But if he brings Mourinho, I'll have my ultimate proof that this man will probably never wake up and that he no longer is ambitious enough to stay as president.
It's one thing to sell your best players and flood the team with a bunch of nobodies. But if you combine that with bringing a toxic loser who destroyed every single club he has been at and irreversibly damaged the reputation of his employer on top of being trophyless? Then we have a problem.

I don't think Mou comes as long as Ramos is our csptain. He won't stand for Mou throwing players under the bus. And the club of course will listen to him

If Juve don't make CL finals basically, Allegri gets fired imo... to be replaced by ZZ. Allegri is a heck of a coach. I'd love for him to come to Madrid if this happens.

Either of those are fine. However, like it was with Lope and Solari, nothing is really going to change unless we invest in the team.

Re: Next manager
great coaching always makes a difference, i will continue to repeat that. So hiring a great coach even with the squad we have now will improve things. Then, i dont know why people have become somewhat convince that we are never going to sign top players again, maybe it's sarcasm, but of course good players will come in too.

Re: Next manager
Coaching helps... but players count the most. You can have the best coach in the world and it can get you through in cup games, along with experience, even with a talent deficit. But to compete in the league, it's mostly about talent.

Re: Next manager
It's not talentless... but very flawed and aging. The attack is nothing special, Ramos is slipping, Marcelo is slipping, Modric is slipping and Kroos only does well when the team is doing well.
So in terms of top players, you really only have Courtois, Varane and Kroos. Casemiro and Carvajal are good but often injured.
It's good talent. But not elite talent at all... and no depth.

Re: Next manager
you dont need your attack to be "special" to compete or to win a league.
all the names you mentioned are top players, including Ramos, Modric, etc... I dont know a single footballer that goes from week 1 of the season to week 38, with NT breaks and cups, while playing at a 100% of their levels. Forms matter, this is why you build a large squad.
We still have a great squad, this is not even something i will argue.

We don't have a great squad anymore (a good one though if you take away top club expectations) and that's not something I'm willing to argue either. We don't have a top scorer, we're aging and we are paper thin in terms of depth.
I didn't think we had a great squad last year either. But our WC players played at a WC level in the 2nd half and CR went in god mode starting in January.
We have no CR and I'm not going to count on the older players having the stamina to consistently play at a WC level anymore.

Re: Next manager
Nick, you like to have it both ways. You spent the last two years telling us how bad Zidane was tactically and relied on the experienced individualism to win us the trophies and that Zidane’s only skill was his man management! Then you said we needed a tactical coach and you raved about Lopetequi coming. At start of season you were still high on Lope, but just as quickly when some players couldn’t or wouldn’t play his intense pressure in oposing zone, you jumped off of that bandwagon! Now you are criticizing Solari who is getting the same some good, some very poor results. You are constantly saying the talent is there but we are all seeing faults in Benzema, Bale, Modric, Asensio, Isco, Marcelo and also at times in Kroos, Ramos and Varane.
There will be no doubt some changes in January, but I doubt if any major ones and likely only signiificant departure being Isco!
And if you follow all the rumours, next summer will see exit of some of the declining veterans and the only major entry being Mbappe or Neymar depending upon who (and if) PSG has to sell. The rest of the renewal will be kids, mostly South Americans although the rumour mill seems to be ignoriing the quota limitation of only 3 imports with Vinicius currently occuping one of them.
So the new coach will have to first and foremost be able to manage a group of talented, eagar, likely spoiled kids! The only veterans that you can count on being there will be Courtois, Ramos, Varane and Kroos!

Re: Next manager
again, we have a great squad. world class players on every line, and that includes the attack with players like Bale, Isco, Benzema etc... They are all world class players.
oh and yes, our squad is so old, i mean, at 32 ramos needs to stop playing football. who else is old? Keylor 32, Benzema 31, Modric 32. this is unacceptable, really a retirement home. lol

1) Great coaching always matters, and i would defy you to find me saying otherwise. great coaching is a difference maker
2) my saying that Zidane's success was mainly a product of a great squad does not contradict that, and i continue to maintain we have a great squad/
3) I have always maintained that a team such as ours can just go on with mental guruness and we needed a coach that could make a difference from a tactical point of view, again argument 1). Also, why do you judge a coach after a few weeks despite his struggles? football is not instant ramen. After a few months, if a coach is still not able to COMMUNICATE his ideas and to CONVINCE his players about his ways, then he has failed, it's as simple as that. Also, me liking the appointment of Lopetegui doesnt mean i owe him somekind of loyalty. i really dont care who you are, whether i like you or not, if you are trash and dont make my team win, you should be fired, simple as that.
4) i have hardly talked about Solari, let alone criticized him. He is doing simple things or keeping things simple, and so far he has mostly been successful. He is a 6 month coach in my opinion.
5) we still have talents, those players have not become scrubs 3 months after 3 peating the CL. the form now does not reflect their normal quality, and explanations about their drop in form can be found elsewhere than to say "we are not talented anymore", that's lazy.
6) there wont be much changed in January, if Brahim Diaz is the only kid we sign, that wont surprise me.
7) stop reading AS they are crap, and it's extremely unlikely we sign any of Neymar or Mbappe. people need to come to grip with that, as Perez.
