I've only ever met one guy who actually watched Di Stefano play, and he claims that C. Ronaldo is nowhere close to the same level of talent, but far more athletic. This kind of generational comparison is pretty pointless, though. I'm sure the average Joe of football these days is more athletic than a top player from back then.

I ain't saying who is better or not, nowhere near that loaded and poisonous debate, just saying Di Stefano did more for the club than Ronaldo (which is testament to how great Ronaldo has been for us). I mean, that is pretty obvious.

I agree. Di Stefano helped create the foundation for Real Madrid as a globally recognized club, and Cristiano simply can't compete with his circumstantial influence. Similarly, it makes little sense to compare the two since they played during completely different eras in football and their respective circumstances don't align. Just thought I'd mention that since I've seen people all over the internet attempt to compare the two recently.

Just to piggy back on what Doc said, maybe history is kinder to Di Stefano because he was the "first mover". He came in, and turned Madrid into a ruthless winning machine.

CR story in Madrid is a mutually beneficial affair. i remember up until La Decima, the story was not that good. He needed help, and we built the best team in the world around him, and in the past 4 years we won 3 CLs, course corrected everything.

I am not his greatest fan but he got his ballon dor, we got our CLs, i am happy.

Is Ballon d'Or a normal thing for CR7 ?
It will never be normal. At the start of my career, my goal was to win the Ballon d'Or. When i arrived at Manchester i told myself that it wasn't impossible after all, i knew i had enough potential, it was an achievable objective. But after all those years, one Ballon d'Or wasn't sufficient anymore.

Rivalry with Messi
I won a Ballon d'Or before Messi. Then he won 4 in a row, and i'll admit i was sad and angry. I went to the celebrations but i never won. I even lost my motivation, i wanted to be there for more than taking pictures and losing.

His place amongst the best
No player has won more individual awards than me. And i'm not only talking about the Ballon d'Or here... It means something, right ? I respect everybody's opinion but i don't see anyone better than me, never did. I don't know one footballer who can do things i cannot do myself. I am the best player in history.

Objectives for 2018
I'll probably buy still use a lot of hair gel. So many competitions next year, with Madrid and with Portugal. This world cup will be decisive in the Ballon d'Or race. Imagine if we win the Champions League while i finish top scorer again, but then what if i have a disappointing World Cup ? Or the other way around ? There are so many things that can happen in 2018.
