Hit Piqué's hand on the way to the goal.
Also I don't think Umtiti handball was deliberate. I need to watch it again though.
Watched both, and they were both not deliberate. Piques was clear from the start to me. He was not even looking at the ball just covered his head to avoid any injury. Umtiti seamed like he conveniently let the hand there, but now I see the ref was right, he had no time to move.
But, the FK should have been offside and alaves should have played with at least one player sent out. The ref was not having any standard, some fouls were yellow and after that you can butcher whoever you want, cuz you aint getting a second yellow.

Might be out of context? Messi isn't that type of player.
Looks like busquets?

Busquets is #5, taller, and doesn't have a full beard. Looks like Messi.

I wasn't talking about that weird video (it is Messi, whatever he's doing)
I was talking about Suarez once again kicking out at an opponent player, away from the ball.
He does that every other game. With VAR, he will never play again.

Re: La Liga Discussion 2017/18 part 3
by the time VAR rolls out in Spain and is used effectively, Suarez would have retired.
If Spain had a discipline committee like in england, he would get suspended after the game based on video evidence. but they cant even manage to put that together. Spain is some backward western country

What're you Hans on about? The defender pulled Suarez against him when Suarez was in the air?

Is it just me or did Coutinho look like he was pretty lost still during the game? He just kept overlapping with Messi/Suarez. I appreciate his ball keeping skills and all that, but doesnt look effective at all so far.
This 4-3-1-2 trying to fit him at the AM position obviously didnt work.

Honestly looks like him just getting off the line and the only way he knew how at the moment was to fall back. Also, Suarez always getting "caught" doing some foolishness when the camera is not on him and for reasons that I really can't understand, Spain refuses to punish him. Since, you know, Madrid corruption runs deep...

Not that I know what goes on in anyone's mind bar my own, gonna just assume he didn't wanna interfere with any play that might be affected with him being on the line (stopping a goal, offside). Technically, inside the goal could be deemed out of play since he is well behind the line. I don't know.

Well, it was his first start. Obviously he's not comfortable on the right side of the pitch since he's right footed. I don't get why Valverde instructed him to stay there, he can offer much more coming inside from the left.
If you glue Iniesta to the right sideline, he'll look out of place aswell.

Beckham and Figo always had a hard time on the right as it was tough for right footers there.

Looked at the Barca next matches schedule, and it looks like we are playing the cup on Friday and than league game on Sunday, how is that even possible? I thought its at least 2 days between each game. This leaves only 1-1.5 days rest in between?

Nic i think this is one of those shit videos pulled out of context. To me he clearly tries to avoid offside in case one of his teammates takes a shot and nicks Messi. Please provide the match and the game so that we can watch the context and we can then decide. That being said, Messi is know to very (the accent is in very) rarely dive, as most of the players do. But, compared to the amount of kicks and hits he gets, he actually does not go down enough!

Re: La Liga Discussion 2017/18 part 3
Coutinho cannot play on the right, that's obvious, especially not in 4-4-2, he looked uncomfortable there and drifted to the middle all the time. Just like Iniesta can't play on the right or Messi on the left.
Football is different now than 20 years ago. Name one right-footed midfielder at the highest level who is not pacy and can play on the right. The Di Maria types can do it because they can run with speed from deep and cut inside and Di Maria qualifies as a winger anyway.
Game was bad but to be expected. Paulinho-Rakitic double pivot with Coutinho on the right and Digne on the left. Bad lineup but understandable. If you can't rest players against Alaves with such a huge lead in La Liga when can you?
Unbelievable level in La Liga though. Just a bit off pace and a relegation team like Alaves deserved to win in Camp Nou and Real Madrid get beaten left and right. Best league in the history of any sports leagues.
Meanwhile former assistant Unzue proving his worth at Celta. Only 3 La Liga teams have scored more goals than Celta (38), they never lost with more than 1 goal margin and only 7 points behind Real Madrid. Barca DNA.

Can anyone tell me why Pique calling Espanyol 'de Cornella' instead of 'de Barcelona' is a big deal? They've reported his comment to the anti-violence commission lol
