I thought he played well in the CL final too... very well actually. His last month of the season was good overall. Created a lot of key plays.

Really? I didn't know Benzema was a good playwright! But then again, I'm not really into plays, so aside from Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet, my knowledge is pretty scarce in that department.
BTW, I'm assuming you were referring to his writing skills when you said "Created a lot of key plays" because for the life of me I can't understand why would anybody even dare to defend him after his horrendous, godawful season last year.
I'm also amazed that you would still defend Z after that quote. There's really nothing to defend here.
Z is wrong for refusing to buy another striker and Benzema is completely and utterly irreversibly finished.

Re: Our next number 9 - thread
When top strikers like Suarez have an awful season they score 7-10 goals in half a season. Benz scores two
last season we survived because Ronaldo went on a scoring run when it mattered. Casemiro had more goal than Benz in the knockout games last season and he's a freaking DM. I gave up on him 8 seasons ago, I don't expect much from him these days. Only to go out there and not to stand in the way of shots and in offside positions. Dude comes down into our half, plays a mid-crossfield ball that goes straight to an opposition just on the top of our box. Useless doesn't do him justice, he is atrocious

he wasn't great in the final. he wasn't terrible , he didn't stink up the place, but he wasn't great. he was manageable. if he was quick enough he could have even gotten a goal. one of cristiano's goals, that ball was going to benzema, but ofcourse, he didn't react fast enough (he thinks he's zidane, who can take his time on the pitch, zidane earned that right), cristiano reacted quickly and pounced on it.

Salah is the one we're after... but not until the summer obviously since he's CL bound. A lot can happen between now and the summer too.
I hope we're looking at Martial too. I really do. The kid is a beast and Mou is wasting him although he's figured out how to play well in Mou's system this year.

Have you forgotten Zidane interned and learned from Pep?
Pep also said he wanted 1000 Dantes in his team, and Mandzukic was the best nr 9 of the world within the box.

Get Alexis Sanchez in January ffs, great player, club willing to let him go, cheap and available for CL football immediately.

In Perez's eyes he's already retired. You retire when you turn 26 years old with him. He gets turned off by old age

Re: Our next number 9 - thread
urban, Alexis would be great in this team. Unfortunately, we have a brainless, nepotist manager who doesn't want to buy anyone, and completely shuts down anyone who may threaten his pal and countryman Benzema's place in this team, even though he knows as well as everybody else that Benzema has become a complete and utter waste of skin at this point.
I mean, sweet Jesus, the uncanny ability of the Frenchman to flank clear-cut, one-on-one chances has become legendary at this point. Add to that the fact that he doesn't press or defend or link-up with his teammates well, and what you've got left? A 81-kg-worth-of-nothing lazy amateur taking up a valuable spot in the starting eleven and contributing with nothing.
Then, you have the manager who, in defiance of logic, god and all things holy, comes out and basically pulls his middle finger to the world by saying "I'll defend him to the death" which is code for "Fck you, he'll play no matter how atrocious he is".
Honestly, If I were Alexis, I wouldn't even consider joining Madrid. Why would he join a team only to be relegated to the bench for someone who doesn't have as much talent in his entire body as Alexis' little toe?

That's a salient point, would Alexis even be a guaranteed starter? Zidane has made it so clear, the BBC is undroppable when all is fit.

we could not make promises to Mbappe, you think we would offer anything to Sanchez?
anyway, the guy is walking to City, that was done months ago.

I think most of us do really want that. He would be top of my list for sure. Unfortunately I don't think it's in the cards or fits with RM's "model"

Re: Our next number 9 - thread
We don't need Sanchez, the guy has been phoning it in recently.
I'd look into these guys for striker:
-Aubameyang
-Icardi
-Kane
Either one is gonna bomb for us, we also need to look for a CR replacement soon, no idea when he will lay off. But the sooner the better.
-Hazard
-Draxler
-Lemar
I'm hoping to see major changes for next season, i think this team has run its course. We need player rehaul to galvanize the team.

Player rehaul
you'd think we havent won a title in years nevermind 5 in one the way people are talking about us. At least Perez is talking sense with the whole don't fix what's not broken message he gave the other day.
The only position that needs rehauling is the CF position. We need a Ronaldo replacement but there is noone in the world that can do what he does. We have to think long and hard about his replacement. Benz is the one that needs to go along with Bale. We need reliable players up top that can score. When we get Kepa we'd be covered in every position for the future bar the frontline. Simmer down with the complete overhaul nonsense that I keep reading

Yeah, you stay in your little fantasy world, like a title won 5 years ago is depicitive of current performances. Its fans like you that are the worst, taking Perez as gospel.

Re: Our next number 9 - thread
For those who are not following the big debate in Spain this week was Lewandowski vs Kane who would be best for Madrid.
I think Spurs moving into their new stadium, the fact that Kane is not that interested to sign, Levy + the fact that he doesn't need to sell and will try to make us break the transfer record at 250 mil like Perez said, makes his signing next to impossible for me this summer. I like him, he is great, but too much of a headache in a short summer when there is a world Cup and we have potentially a lot of moves to make.
The Logic.of signing Lewandowski is nice and all, elite now until you find a new talent. But you are spending over 110 mil on a player who has no resale value and why would Bayern sell?
Can't see us signing both. I still think Icardi is the best/most realistic target this summer. 110 mil and he is still very young.
Also I just want to throw this out there, could we convert Griezmann into a full time n9? I know sports would like this. Atletico consistently play him in a second striker role because they have no other option but would he make it as a 9? I was never interested in that before but what do you think?
