He just switched to 10 for the 17/18 season with Monaco, so no he hasn't officially been number 10-- yet, and he wears 12 for France. I can't say I've followed Mbappe all his professional career but according to transfermarkt, he has never been number 10 -

@Nick, number 10 was free which Mbappe would've had, had we gone for him, you know like how Perez saves numbers for galacticos, but we've just given it away. I am 99% we won't go foe him this summer. Maybe next depending on alot of things but not this summer

i'm not a stickler for numbers, i do have little things that piss me off, like having a cb wear number 9, or a striker where number 4 for example. but generally speaking whether a person wears 32 or 11 or 7 doesn't bother me. its just a number, as long as you're delivering on the pitch....and no reasonable club will even have their winger or forward wear something like number 2, highly unlikely

Personally I don't think numbers matter either but I believe from a commercial standpoint Perez would prefer his multimillion euros purchases to rack in as much money as possible. It would be easier for him to advertise his galacticos if they had one of the famous numbers hence why numbers have been saved over the years when buying players for so much money

@nick, I agree, pulling power of big clubs have shrunk over the years with the emergence of clubs like PSG and City but I also believe we are in a position where we aren't desperate for anyone anymore and have the freedom of turning down players if they don't fit our evaluation, like what happened with Pogba and will probably happen with Mbappe now

Though I still believe we need someone and Belotti is an interesting player to look at. Wouldn't turn down Auba either for a reasonable price. We just need someone because we can't rely on Mayoral to save us from the bench
