Holy shit bruh. What a film Incredible mystery. Had me guessing the entire film.
Agreed, highly highly recommended.
8.3/10
- Spoiler:
What didn't make sense for me is why the police didn't hear when he apparently bust his forehead against the mirror.
- Spoiler:
Was thinking that too. I can assume it's either a plot hole, or that it was not important considering it doesn't change anything since they always suspected him of murdering the girl anyways.
What did you think of the ending?
- Spoiler:
Well I don't quite know. I think the film ended by telling us, 'okay, this is what happened.' But I'm unsure whether we are supposed to believe that or still question it.
Overall? I think it was a pretty decent mystery tale, but nothing great. A tale that relied a lot on the screenwriter's pen. As we mentioned, there might be plot holes, however I think the writer tried his best to not let there be any, rather than focusing on the mystery itself and giving the audience substantial evidence to base their own opinion on. Therefore we get that ending of you as the viewer deciding whether you want to believe the old couple's version of things, or not, or perhaps that there is more to it.
It basically plays on the whole if a tree fell in the forest and you weren't there to see it, did it really fall philosophy. And it is kinda Rashomon-y as well, if you are aware of that film you will know what I mean.
But I don't know. What do you think?
- Spoiler:
I think the ending is pretty much 'what you see is what you get'. The film was full of red herrings and unreliable narration. But the main guy did confess to everything in the end. If the film was set in a court room then i think it would have been an open ending. But the way final reveal happened, i don't think there is much left to theorise.

The Wicker Man (1973)
I must say I am not a huge fan of films based on cults and paganism and sort. So I didn't really enjoy this film that much. It was very symbolic though. I actually loved the ending and the final speech was really good by faux jesus. Acting was good. Also, love how a film with full nudity is considered rated 15 in the UK lol. Britt Ekland was 10/10 in this film.
Main character was quite unlikable but couldn't help rooting for him still.
Although I don't get if they ended the film in that way on purpose since they could have added another scene. Maybe it was meant to be that way.
Not sure what to rate this one. Wasn't really a horror film but a cult mystery if there is such genre?

Similarities? He straight up copied the character as an homage to it. Carpenter never sued him because Kojima is a nice guy.

Nah i meant in general with the movie and not just the character. The absurd action scenes. Weapons. Gadgets. heck even the CQC in the end.

Ah okay. Yeah. Of course.
Kojima loves these 80s shlock films. Really hope there's going to be a third at some point with Kurt Russell. Guy deserves a big film role again. One of my favourite movie stars.

Isn't he a bit too old for it now? Also, what do you think about Carpenter as a director?

He’s pretty good. But I’ve only seen his classics. He’s a legend for basically doing everything himself in some movies and his theme for Halloween is the GOAT horror theme.

A Ghost Story
A different look at a ghost. Not too smart for its faults, may not be for everyone, but I felt there was a strong emotion somewhere there throughout.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
It's a b-movie, which is mistakenly used by many as a derogatory term.
It just means it's a low budget commercial (non-arthouse) movie.
All Hong Kong Bruce Lee movies are B-movies, and they're classics.

The Big Sick (2017)
Think this was my first romcom since IT. Was a decent film. Awkward comedy. Characters were fun.

Yeah. It's fine. Incredibly overrated though.
People were talking as if it re-invented the rom-com in some groundbreaking way. And Kumail is really a horrible actor. Would've loved to seen someone else in the role at least.

bruh, I thought the exact same thing. I wasn't sure if Kumail was acting this way on purpose or if he is actually this bad at acting.
Heard so much about the film that I too was expecting something incredible.

Re: The Movie House - Part 10
While I'm posting in this thread, some random thoughts:
I Saw The Devil: 7.5/10.
My favourite South Korean movie alongside New World (7.2/10 and 9/10 soundtrack).
The Revenant: LOL They really gave an Oscar to Caprio for this? 5.5/10. A movie about a man crawling through the woods for 2 hours.
Blade Runner (original): Was a bit boring, hope the remake isn't like that. 6.2/10 (I rate this purely from today's perspective of course, I realize in the 80s the topic, making etc. might have been groundbreaking, we even watched it in school like 15 years ago ).
Taken was rated not so good a couple of pages back. I don't agree. If you see it as a light action Friday evening entertainment movie it's really fun. 6.7/10.
John Wick 1 & 2: Loved them both. Exactly my type of action movies. 7.6/10. Reminded me a bit of The Equalizer with Denzel.
Flight: One of Denzel's best movies IMO. 7.7/10.
@RG: Yes, the 2017 one.

Oh, it's not on purpose. He's just horrible in everything really. Can't act.
And his stand up in the movie (was actual real stand-up) was atrocious
His 9/11 joke was great though.
Agreed on It also.
Still in my top 3 of 2017.
