Ousmane Dembélé
Barcelona agree £135.5m deal for Dortmund forward. Barca will pay an initial 105m euros (£96.8m) for the France international, 20, who has agreed a five-year contract and will undergo a medical on Monday.
Raw talent , spend one year in top tier. Can play from LW , RW and AM position.
He will directly take the place of Naymer. I don't see the changing from 433 to any other formation.
Discuss.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
The contract will be signed after a successful medical and only after that can we call him a Barcelona player.
This signing does excite me but I am left wondering if Julian Draxler would have been better value for money.

IMO no. Dembélé is far more exciting than Draxler, and frankly already has a better output.
Dembélé is the real deal.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
My issues with this signing stem more from the price tag than the player himself, wish him the best and can't wait to see what he develops into and prove the hype

Really excited for this young man. He is expensive but it is what it is.

Yes he may have more potential but Draxler is more experienced and might have been more ready in terms of the temperament needed for big matches. More importantly though I agree with alfred - due to the very heavy price tag it will become all the harder to justify it. It's still much better than buying players well below the required level but the best signings are the shrewd signings where great quality is purchased at a low price mostly due to circumstantial reasons. Juventus have been the best at it in recent times. Perhaps the only one we have made in recent times is Rakitic. I just had a thought that Draxler could have been a possibility for a shrewd signing. Anyway looking forward to a bright future with Dembele.
BTW Germany and France have such a huge talent pool to choose their world cup squads from.
Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Draxler wasnt even regular starter for PSG even before Neymar went there I thought, so that says something about him?

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Dembele has transcendent skills, which is what you look for in potential superstars. Namely, his speed is on the same level as Aubameyang and he's completely two footed... he has no preference in terms of right or left foot.
His finishing in terms of scoring needs refinement... but that's not really his role. His crossing, free kicks and passing are already very refined however.

Perhaps but he captained Germany to a Confed Cup victory and that should say something about him as well. I have mainly seen him when he is playing for Germany and he has certainly been impressive.

Would you say he has the potential to reach Neymar's level?

It should be shouted loud and clear during the games but unfortunately Camp Nou is filled with tourists from various countries who don't give a shit.

Actually, IMO it is the socis who are too passive, at the end of the day, they are the ones who change change him, and that is not happening.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
This guy is better than Neymar imo. Might not be as flashy, but his talents are unbelievable. Fast like a blur, completely two footed, and can get away from anyone while dribbling. Will be interesting to follow his development.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
I think the only thing Neymar has on him is finishing and maybe a slight edge in dribbling opponents on. But those 2 things are something Neymar isn't vastly superior over on him, and given his age vs Neymars, he could potentially easily match him on all areas or surpass him. Incredible talent for his age, and I honestly don't think we could of found a better replacement

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
I think we should all calm down for a bit. He played just around 20 minutes. And his Dortmund achievements too are nothing compared to Neymar's.
He might become better than Neymar... but right now Neymar has a lot over him.
I would love for him to reach that level though. He seems genuinely to like Barca as opposed to Neymar, who I would not even rule out joining Madrid in the future.

We couldn't buy a teenager from Monaco and you think we'll get Neymar in his prime from PSG ?

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
If this market is anything to go by, then anything is possible.
Anyway, I was talking more in hypotheticals. Madrid's ability to bag him notwithstanding, I don't see him being loyal to Barca in that sense.
Moot discussion anyway, since that is 3-4 years off, if at all.

I hope he does better in future as so far with Juve I would take Pedro any day, and this is the bad Pedro I am speaking about not the young Pedro.

Well that's trainable and he's what, 20? Seems a bit early to give up on him, personally

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
I think so too. There's a better chance than there was before the game that he may turn into a flop. Better to avoid all possible exposure here.futbol wrote:Did not fully convince in his first start, time to give up on him IMO.
Sell him to Madrid for Bale and Benzema. I'll arrange transportation for everyone myself.
