There are rumors now that Montella's position could be in danger. Milan is facing criticism and he met with the directors. Fassone was critical after the Samp loss, emphasizing how losses like at Samp cannot become routine and that "the attitude needs to change quickly".

The next games are Milan-Roma and Inter-Milan. Will be a tense two games for Montella.

To be fair, that was only a couple posters who stopped posting after the Lazio match.

If you need a fine example of Milan fans, look at m99 and es. They tell it how it is.

A positive result in either of those matches would be great for their season.

In one month...from Serie A contenders to Montella sack watch

I think it would be a tad hasty to let him go before late november, but thats just me

But, even as a fan who's more optimistic its hard not to be critical of the defending and attitude in our last few serie a matches

Montella more specifically deserves the blame, his late substitutions are becoming more worrisome than any Milan coach over the last little while, never have I seen such reluctance to make a sub.

His starting lineups are becoming questionable as well, he says he likes to rotate, yet seems to be running Kesxsie into the ground. I do like his striker rotation but again that hasnt worked out so well.
And Zapata...why is he so adored...one bicycle goal and suddenly everyone forgets he was one of the worst performers for us, id almost prefer gomez

There are many positives so far in the season, and we definitely have a bright future, but if Montella does *bleep* this up royally and we miss out on champions league, it could have grave consequences as everyone knows- defaulting on our loans and another summer of Dollarumma speculation

Montella has shown better versus more highly rated teams, and usually sets us up better in the bigger matches, this should be his chance to prove himself, its now or never

Look at the post I made on Milan section after deadline day ended, I said 4th is our best hope. I was optimistic when it looked like we might sign Belotti or Aubameyang but that didn't work out.

Montella has 0 wins against Roma

I fully expect us to not win that game, i want Montella out but there aren't any good replacements. Unless Conte bounces from Chelsea.

I always said since the beginning that this is a poorly assembled team, we've been chasing Keita Balde in the beginning of the summer, then suddenly i wake up to see us signing Hakan? tThese are 2 VASTLY different profiles, its like what are you trying to play?

A combined 70m on 2 strikers, meanwhile, Suso has no vice at all. So they shoehorn him into CAM where he isn't comfortable, our best player last season.

Kessie who is just more of the same of the banter era except he got a 30m price tag, just a souped up Kucka, Where's the controllers? The passers? The creators? Why don't we ever get these profiles? Our last person like that we had was what? Aquilani lol?

Montella is an upper midcard coach, his substitutions are late and stupid, his team selection is downright dumb sometimes, he strikes me as another beta coach who's afraid of hard decisions/conflict , like Emery, Tuchel, etc, except with none of the nous

I think there is just unreasonable expectation for Milan this year. I don't see how missing out on CL is a royal *bleep* up. These expectations seem like they are created in a vacuum, where only what Milan did in the market matters. If you look at the other teams then it cannot be a sure demand that Milan get CL. Its just a reasonable possibility imo.

My concerns were basically the same as @ES's. Inter also has concerns but they have Spalletti. Lazio has magic in Inzaghi and Immobile, they really *bleep* it up for the Milan clubs Laughing

EDF's Roma is looking good enough to get CL too. The squad is just too used to winning against all the smaller teams like Tom said.

Very good points guys

We have the old top 3 with Juve Napoli and Roma just behind,

then theres Inter and Lazio who both have great runs of form

I just dont see us getting past them, and worse is that if we dont, we risk default on our loans and Donnarumma talks will begin

As was noted by ES, we are lacking serious depth for both Suso and Kessie, and we cant even play the 352 without Bonucci

Borini is our only depth on the wing...

Im sure this will be addressed come January however that might be too late on

Hopefully he steers us to 5th-6th at the break and we strengthen for a better second half of the year

Europa league has to save us, but we look no closer to winning it at the moment than we would to close in on the 4th spot

They need to get the Champions League so Mi Lang can pay his debt to that american hedge fund ? He borrowed 300m at very high interests to buy the club, so yes, the top 4 is a necessity.

Spoiler:

The other way around is by winning the EL, which they won't without proper winter reinforcements.

We got 4th place that year ,and I 'd sign immediately now to get same result because there are 4 CL places this year.
The match was totally blocked, I have watched it whole just yesterday , then Yann Karamoh played the game :coffee:

The 2018/19 season of CL. So the top 4 of the 2017/18 Serie A season qualify for 18/19.

Besides there is not even CL playoff , you go on Champions League group directly.

Shame the first 3 places are already taken ( juve napoli roma... )
Lazio Inter Milan for the last one.

Still not convinced with EDF at Roma, but their team is too talented to not make the top 4
